Mayweather was just too fast for Canelo. Cos of that, Canelo became slightly gun shy because he kept getting tagged and beaten to the punch. He done the wrong gameplan by trying to box but even when he did try and rough up Mayweather later in the fight he was too tired, too inexperienced at fighting that style and didn't throw enough punches to trouble someone as elite as Mayweather.

Maybe Maidana could jump Mayweather in the first couple rounds, but Id see it being a 12-0 UD for Floyd even though Maidana arguably deserves the fight.

Canelo indeed got the wrong game plan. It should be the other way around, that is; pressure him, give all mayweather can handle first and if it's really not working then try to box him.

Who the hell is the ****** in his camp suggested from the get go to box a real master boxer? This guy has become full of himself; he thought that if he can outbox a mosley type of a fighter he can do it to anybody. He forgot, mosley is not a pure boxer himself but a master boxer-puncher and that is on his prime not when he fought him. And trout? trout who? This is a B- fighter, a typical gatekeeper, one that would never break an elite type barrier status.

Canelo had broken one of the sacred mantras in boxing. "Don't box with the boxer." Another sacred mantra that is important to remember is "Don't hook with the hooker" Violate this and you pay the price. Canelo did, I guess it's part of him being green. well then, charge it to his experience.

canelo is not a good pressure fighter, he also has bad stamina

canelo's maturity at his age is what really impresses me though, he tried, i'll give him that

Do you guys really think Maidana loses to devon again? Or khan? He laid in the clinch against devon and smothered his own power against khan. Two things he no longer does. Yall figure it out.

That's not Alvarez's style, never has been, and if he tried he would have gassed and possibly been stopped.

I agree that it hasnt been his style, but i really think it should be. Or he should at least have it in his arsenal to become a brawler. He has such a good build for it, short, stocky, short arms, moves well at the waist, throws nice combinations etc and his chin isnt bad from what ive seen either (Cotto fight aside). He'd have to work double time on his stamina though, but he needs to do that anyway lol.

I agree with the TS personally. Canelo's advantages in this fight were his weight and power, and i feel he gave them up the moment he started boxing with Mayweather. He played a game of chess against the chess master when he should have smashed the board to the floor and bull rushed him.

Hatton tried it had a little success but was ultimately too small and not skilled enough. Ortiz tried it had more success but was getting picked off then sucker punched. Canelo could have done better than both of those imo, probably would have still lost but would have had a better chance than trying to box mayweather.

Canelo could not be aggressive, floyd was countering canelo all day and canelo does not have mannys speed so he couldnt be aggressive.

Maidana didn't make it a street fight. He used feints and worked his jab to set up his power shots. He out-boxed Broner.

He got aggressive at times when he had him hurt against the ropes. But it wasn't a maul and brawl style that won him the fight.

End thread, why people still think Broner is anything like Mayweather is beyond me..Mayweather is very strong, not easy to rough him up,not to mention Floyd's footwork always has him out of his opponents range..Not easy to fight Floyd let alone maul him..Broner has always been flat footed,no surprise Maidana got to him..Once again,Broner is no Mayweather..
