And he would have been eating even more counter punches. It's not that simple. Unfortunately some people are too dumb to realize that.

He should have been prepared to do that to get closer.

I'm not one of these people that thinks "Floyd struggles with pressure" because that's not necessarily true. For example, there's no way Amir Khan should try to pressure Floyd. But when you're a huge guy like Alvarez, that really is your best and only shot. Standing off and trying to box with him is just ****** for a man with Alvarez's physical attributes.

Alvarez did try to pressure Floyd at times and it didn't work. When your missing and getting countered the punch output will drop. It's the same thing with people wondering why Cotto threw fewer left hooks against Mayweather but some people are still clueless why that happened.

Alvarez didn't spend the whole fight standing around doing nothing. He tried to corner Mayweather, go to the body, box, nothing worked.

He didn't do it early enough. He took about 6 rounds to try to get closer to him. By then, Floyd had already got into a rhythm and he'd already been discouraged. It was just a poor performance all around.

Exactly. Seems like people expect Canelo to bumrush him and go Worldstar style. You have to work your way in close. And when he tried to work his way in, Floyd countered and/or used his feet to get out of the way.

He didn't try to work his way in. At least not for damn near half the fight. Cotto worked his way in. This fool stood off like a moron and tried to box lol

                  And he still lost. Clearly.

Exactly. A worn down cotto was pretty effective against mayweather imagine a younger fighter with that same kind of style doing it Floyd would for sure lose. People forgot that Floyd wanted to retire after the cotto fight cause of the punishment he took dont believe me watch the documentary they did on Floyd before he went to jail he said so himself. Floyd doesn't like that kind of fight.

So effective that he lost a one sided decision.
