Broner gets my respect, for sure. He fought with a broken jaw and stood their toe to toe with Maidana. Their is a lot of hypocrites on boxingscene. If you quit with a broken jaw you're a coward, if you storm out after the fight you're a coward. Yet guys like Miguel Cotto, when he gets the **** beat out of him, is nowhere to be seen anywhere near the ring for an interview. Yet, Cotto is seen as a warrior, even though he quit against Margarito and fought to survive against Pacquiao. But, Broner fights hard for 12 rounds, with a broken jaw, but these idiots call him a b*tch. Yeah, okay. I only look at what Broner does inside a ring, I don't care about his outside stuff. See a fighter for what he is inside the ring, not how you want to see him. As for the headbutt, maybe that **** did hurt him, given that his jaw was ****ing broken.

Yes, he has some skills but boxing is about skill and WILL.

Broners act is to be a ignorant douche, a world star boxer/ rapper , he plays the Villian most of things he does in the ring and in front of the camera are to rub people the wrong way. Its to get attention and be marketable and To become an attraction.


It's working because I think most of the hard core boxing fans hate him because his lack of respect for the sport, competition,Lack of resume , ignorant ****** attitude. And because of his world star antics casuals and people who dont follow boxing actually know who he is, but people watch him The fight from last night has like 250k views in less then 24 hours.

If he didn't market himself like he did and played the nice guy ,no controversy he'd probably be a Devon Alexander type fighter being the 3rd fight on the card not the main event. People would be indifferent to him. Look at Ward, Bradley their P4P fighters and and don't have 1/2 the hype Broner does/ did and they had to clean out divisions, beat legends to get there.


I've always said his act is a joke because it's corny and fake But his act is more believable because he's black if he was white his ****** rapper act wouldn't work he'd be a Joke a boxing version of Riff Raff or Frog from the wire. If he was a white he'd Probably be marketed differently.

The thread starter is right in my opinion, everything else has to be taken out of the equation and we only focus on the performance in the ring during the 36 minutes of combat. Broner survived multiple knockdowns and still came on strong during the fight, the guy showed a great deal of heart in the ring to do that in the face of such adversity.

All you need to do is forget the names Broner / Maidana and just look at it like a fight between two fighters you never heard of. Broner did put up a good fight even after being knocked down twice. It showed heart, grit, determination and probably some arrogance thrown in but they are some qualities that we would all usually praise a fighter for showing in a fight. So Broner deserves praise for that, forget his out-the-ring persona for a second and give credit where it's due, he never gave up and kept fighting.
