He's not a warrior. He's a cry baby and gets dirty when he's in big trouble. He complains, cries for help and looks at the ref as if Maidana was doing something illegal. Nothing warrior about him.

All this laughing at Broner..why is he not getting any credit for being a warrior?

All you need to do is forget the names Broner / Maidana and just look at it like a fight between two fighters you never heard of. Broner did put up a good fight even after being knocked down twice. It showed heart, grit, determination and probably some arrogance thrown in but they are some qualities that we would all usually praise a fighter for showing in a fight. So Broner deserves praise for that, forget his out-the-ring persona for a second and give credit where it's due, he never gave up and kept fighting.
Fighters have been through worse and some at the expense of their lives; I love/respect this sport too much to agree with that one.

If you think there is an illegal move that the boxer is using against you, when the ref doesn't issue a warning you will start to complain to the ref so that the ref can look out for the illegal move. Fighters do that most often when they get punched behind the back of the head in a clinch, but complaining does happen in a variety of different scenarios of course, it's not uncommon by any means..

I'm only judging Broner on his performance in the ring, no external factors matter in this one. When it's all said and done, Broner kept trying to win the fight for the full 36 minutes, even though he had been knocked down twice, rocked and stunned. I got to give him credit for his effort, he never the quit the fight.
If course I give him credit for trying to finish strong after the vicious beating he took but this is still a sport; all of it comes into play when it's all said and done.Last edited by TonitosWay; 12-16-2013, 06:43 AM.

Wow....
First off don't compare Bronner to Mayorga Walken....Mayorga is humble once the fight ends and does not resort to petitioning the ref when things are not going his way. His **** talk is creative and funny.
People have partially made this an issue of race....If we are going to make it an issue of race then....so be it. WE expect boxers, competing for the big time to do certain things. ANY fighter is expected to do his best, no matter how able. Mexican fighters are renowned for not quitting no matter the situation. Since when do we expect less out of a guy who, with the limited experience of Bronner, is headlining? Do we give him a pass because of his race? I mean are people saying that Bronner being a Black Thug, abrasive, poor sportsman (Paulie fight, etc) makes it so it is a suprise that he tried to win the fight at all costs? that he should be complimented for not just qitting the fight? I certainly do not look at my African American brothers and sisters that way....I would never assume a fighter of any background would stop fighting unless the fighter had to stop.
do we in essence expect Bronner not to fight his very best? I take issue with the attitude that compliments a guy who us supposed to be an elite fighter for doing his job...Its what one trains to do. Why would this be an issue for Bronner? why should he be complimented with trying to perform his absolute best? Thug, Mexican Aztec warrior, Italian Stallion, Cuban technician....It means **** all when a fighter enters the ring! Every last guy is expected to do his best...there are doctors and ambulances on the premises! Rules to protect and safety equipment.
The truth hurts but it is the truth after all: Bronner as an African American who has risen in the ranks of boxing is looked upon by the media as having empathy with a large demographic of the boxing viewing public. The promoters want him to be on the path that Floyd has made via the De La Hoya fight: So they set Bronner up and take his limited boxing skills and make him appear to be very good. Bronner is alas, still a work in progress. He is not very good and not able to take instruction from those who could show him how to reach his potential....Look at the sparring vid at Floyd's gym. Instead of learning to get better Bronner is a clown who gets handled by those who he engages in the ring.
Anyone watching this kid can see he is clueless: he does not know how to angle properly when using rolling technique, he has limited and sluggish footwork....all he really has is fast hands and an image assigned to him. Floyd and other African American fighters probably have some affection for Bronner and have too much class to publically dress him down. One only hopes that in private they can straighten this kid out.Last edited by billeau2; 12-16-2013, 07:43 AM.

Everybody's laughing and clowning Broner for the way he conducted himself before, during, and after the fight. The dude stepped out the limousine dancing, walked into the ring rapping, dry humped a grown man in ring, and then stormed out of the ring after the scores were read.
He should have taken his L like a man and congratulated Maidana on the mic and thank the fans of San Antonio that came out to see the fight. If he would of done something mature like that he would of gotten a lot more appreciation for his gutsy performance and the fans wouldn't have bombarded him with beer cups and rotten tomatoes or whatever the hell they were throwing at him as he was storming out of the arena.

Broner showed great heart to keep going and try to win. He could come back. But he tried to get a dq, and all his hype has basically left him with egg on his face.
Oh and he couldn't even show the humility to congratulate Maidana.Last edited by arizashakes; 12-16-2013, 09:29 AM.
