Rigo and Lara need to step up their game, yes we have a very vocal group online yelling how great these guys are but the general public is falling asleep watching them fight.

If these guys don't start taking some risks they are going to be blackballed and will be fighting on ESPN2 soon.

Watch Pacuiao clottey compare and Clottey seems reckless in comparisson Agbeko was stationary but he has a chin and was shelled up RIgo has power to scare him but not to catch him if he dont open up at all which he didn't only choice was break his damn leg.
Actually, he had a choice to throw more than one punch at a time. So he's elusive. big whoopty doo. Punch your opponent as many times as it takes instead of playing "tag, you're it".

800 punches thrown is playing tag now? Dude was throwing long range uppercuts trying to get through the guard and Agbeko wasn't going down I saw him do all he could playing there sometimes but to no fruit if Agbeko would have opened up even a little he would have gotten knocked out for the first time in his career but that was exactly what he said he was trying to avoid in the post fight interview. Agbeko was the biggest fking let down this year for me idk if it was Rigo traumatizing him or what but that is not the fighter who whipped Mares azz and beat Darchinyan.

I'll preface this by stating that I enjoy watching Rigo and watch all of his fights

With that said, Rigo needs to understand that Pro boxing serves a different purpose than Amateur boxing, people spend money on tickets and cable subscriptions to watch which means Pro Boxing is a form of entertainment

If you're not entertaining to the average casual boxing fan, you aren't going to be a sell

Rigo and his team need to realize that he doesn't have to change his style to be more appealing to casual fans, but you need to step on the gas when the opponent in front of you doesn't deserve to be in the same ring as you

Agbeko shouldn't have been allowed to go past 9 rds but Rigo was content to carry his opponent to the final bell, unacceptable IMO. Rigo is more "safety first" than Mayweather or BHop

It had nothing to do with his performances, it was awful match making and lack of promotion. They picked up Agbeko out of nowhere because the big names guys are frightened to step into the ring with the boxing god.

What I find funny about the whole thing is despite the lack of promotion involved, and despite him facing a completely overmatched opponent, he still did better than those Showtime bouts LOL.

Next time put Rigo in with someone with a big name and I guarantee over 1M.

That's sad. Most of those guys in that photo probably worked the fight (promotions, journalists, camera crew, commentators, ring girls, etc.). I bet even they wanted to leave.

I agree with the lack of promotion but on paper Agbeko was supposed to be great he was the guy to pressure Rigo like never before spoil it make it a dirty fight throwing 100 punches a round and look what happened in real life Rigondeaux just traumatizes dudes straight up and Rigo is the one who threw 800+ punches and Agbeko never saw his oppoinent face since he had his gloves glued to his forehead but Rigondeaux gets the blame because he should have knee capped Agbeko and get him down .

                    1. rigo isnt boring

                    2. rigo can sell tickets, he just needs a promoter who can sell him properly. if you stand around selling mufflers at a lady footlocker you probably wont sell many.

rigo lives in miami, a once great boxing city with lots of tradition that hardly ever gets any big fights. whenever they do FNF or something around there its off the chain, they are waiting for a big fight over there.

then target the cuban demographic in miami. theres lots of them and a big interest in boxing among them given that its the nations biggest sport. more importantly they appreciate the type of style rigo has. he will be easy to portray as a hero too, he fled cuba just like they did, left his family behind and lost his former hero status back on cuba.

you got odlanier solis in the same camp, he could easily be on his undercards. then you got guys like lara, gamboa etc out there. i think they would jump at the oppertunity to fight in front of a lot of cubans even on an undercard. you could put a real nice card together.

its not just cubans who want to watch rigo either, as an actrive amateur boxer im in the gym all the time. i often find myself discussing boxing after a workout and more often than not the most knowledgeable ppl in the gym dont know **** about current events in boxing. they say they dont bother watching since the sport lost its beauty, the fighters dont know how to fight like they did in the old days, they dont learn from the gorund up, they dont hone their craft etc..

these ppl know boxing, they arent 13 year old kids looking for random violence with no appreciation for the actual sport. on the contrary, they are fed up with the mindless brawls, but if they knew rigo was out there they would watch him. the few ppl i told about him all returned excited and wondering about the guys he might be fighting next etc.

you have to target these ppl though, instead they go to the boardwalk hall and have him fighting after the "new gatti" fought james ****ing kirkland. you already know what kind of fans are in that building. idk why cubans arent targeted like philipinos, mexicans, ricans, irishmen etc. i can understand why mainstream fans are targeted more than purists, because there are hardly any purists left. but why not target cubans? makes no sense to me.

The lack of promotion made the people who had already paid for tickets walk out of the arena.
