Look, the fight should have been stopped before it was. Blame whoever you want, but that is the truth. Tapia was done in round 3. Everyone knew it. So, it is not just Smoger's fault. The doctor and the corner are at fault also, but Tapia was done in round 3.

Smoger is Smoger, no one should be surprised by this. The corner has to the stop fight in this instance, it's their fighter and they need to do more than just give a raw raw speech.

Kirkland isn't getting stopped by one punch. Tapia barely threw anything for the last 3 rounds and actually looked upset at the fact that his corner was keeping in there to fight.

Corners can't be relied on to stop fights, they're too invested and often idiots.

Referees and doctors should stop fights, they should have the fighter's health at heart.

in this case before the last round started the doctor after checking out tapias eye walked over to smoger and told him to keep an eye on tapia.

smoger brought the doctor the prior 2 rounds to the corner and asked for a professional diagnosis. I wouldn't put too much blame on smoger after he took those precautions. Corner & Dr. had 2 opportunities to stop, and he let examination continue into one of the rounds. I agree he should have stopped it maybe earlier, but you can't say he wasn't doing his job beforehand.

What's sad is how much $$$ did Tapia make for this fight? Both fighters lost in my opinion, did you see how much Kirkland was slurring his words in the post fight interview with Max???

Without boxing Kirkland is a accident waiting to happen and with all those punches he's taken are going to hurt him in the long run. Ann Wolfe needs to go! her training methods are terrible look at Kirklands defense??? His eats punches and waits for you to tired out

His corner was a complete disgrace, they should have thrown in the towel before the 5th round started and possibly earlier. Instead he took a sustained beating for 3 minutes, and then they put him in for the 6th and he took even more punishment until they finally said enough is enough.
