Who's crying. I'm sorry I don't like to watch people take unnecessary punishment. Kirkland is a bum, if Tapia had any power he would've stopped him.

This bum can know fight cans on HBO instead of getting his ass handed to him by anyone else at 154.
agree. He knew the ref was stopping the fight but he took that last free shot. Man, Tapia lives 5 mins from me and is of Dominican decent like myself, so I was rooting for him, but when this fight was made I knew he chewed on tooo much. He needs to work on his stamina and less on weight lifting. Hopefully he'll be back from this beating.

Yeah I mean Tapia is a decent prospect but he wasnt ready for that fight. I'm clearly not high on Kirkland at all, but he was still a huge step up for Tapia. He went to war with Abbie Haan who is another decent fighter but nothing special. And he was getting pushed hard in that fight and also getting hurt and Haan isn't much of a puncher at all. I still gave Tapia a chance though because of Kirkland's shakey chin.

THat's what I've been talking about. Not Kirklands fault, it was SMOGERS fault...he needed to step in between the fighters and protect the sticken man...which he did not do. You'd think a ref who has been in about a million bouts would have the expertise to do this move, but as he's a crap ref and Too old to make the move a young man almost got killed and maybe has been seriously injured.

Smoger should never ref a fight ever again.

I'm pretty sure smoger didn't think Kirkland was going to throw that last punch. He was clearly stopping the fight. What should he have done tackled him? If you watch at the end, Kirkland wasnt really loading up on his shots and then smoger steps in to stop it and all of a sudden he throws a bomb. It's just a **** head thing to do. Plain and simple.

How is he a bum?? Because his only loss was to ishida? Look he isn't a masterful boxer puncher, he is a truth serum inside the ring.
How bad does the opponent willing to go to get that win. So far as long as James is with Anne no one has shown they can stay and trade with him.

Also that last punch looked like it was thrown too late but in the heat of a fight like that, it happens and he probably didn't know it.

Just watched this fight again. This time with the HBO commentators instead of the English commentators.

All I have to say it Tapia's corner disgusted me. They sent Tapia out there knowing full well he was out of it. At one point his corner told him " Tell the Doctor you're OK"
They should be investigated and barred from ever being in anyones corner. Tapia could have suffered permanent damage from the massive beating he was taking. Fight should have been stopped in the 4th round.

Basically, yes. Watch the Groves-Froch stoppage (as bad as it was). The ref grabbed Groves in a headlock...no way could Froch legally hit Groves.

But the poster above this one makes a great point...Tapia's corner should have made the decision way before the ref or doc. Tapia WAS NOT RESPONDING to this corner...at all. His eyes were nearly closed. When his trainer told him to bounce up and down he did NOTHING.

Trust me, no one credible in boxing would pick Kirkland over Lara (except you and you're damn sure NOT credible).
Did you watch Lara vs angulo
