I'm okay with whoever Cotto decides to fight. I'm a fan of all three fighters and I know either fight would be entertaining. Depending on how Martinez can bounce back from his last performance (and surgery), Cotto might or might not have a better chance against Martinez rather than Canelo. If Cotto fights Canelo, I'd favor Canelo slightly.

Not suprised, Cotto has more leverage in negotiations with Martinez and he may feel Sergio is on the decline and is an easier fight.
With Canelo he is on the B side of the promotion and would take another loss.

I would expect Cotto to have a tune up, but then again, maybe a long rest and an intense training camp with roach will do him better?

He does and thats why he's more respected then a lot of these so called champs!

I know he doesn't dare fight GGG.
Ginger gets mopped by lara, and possibly beat by Trout...and if he(ginger) has the balls to fight triple g, he gets ktfo

Cotto is going to get countered and knocked out. Plain and simple. Martinez is a smart boxer also, and hits far to hard for Cotto to last 12. If the fight is in June, then Martinez will be healthy and fine. If Roach thinks Cotto should be fighting at 147, then he damn sure should not be fighting over 154. The size and reach disparity is gaping.

Two aging men in the ring, sounds fair.

I'm more worried about a prolonged beating if anything... Martinez is a very punishing fighter (people forget because of his style) and he breaks guys down BADLY by the end of fights. That left to the body is vicious, as are his jabs ehich look like straights. No way Cotto's face holds up.

Martinez is a killer coming forward and can and will get agressive if needed. Cotto shouldnt box... He's a bit smaller. Thisll be a race against time. Cotto needs to make the older man work and fight..especially if theres doubt about his conditioning(layoff and possible training camp difficulties) and body. The thing is that if Martinez is remotely okay he beats Cotto in every way... Boxing OR fighting.

Source is the same internet rumors that have been flowing around for a while. Boxrec has no special knowledge. They had Canelo vs Cotto listed not that long ago for god's sake.
