  • Seeing as how he'll try to fight 4-5 times this year, I have no problems with Adama.

    • great news for GGG, quite good opponent hopefully will step up. I remember not long time ago, Adama was already considered as a possible candidate for a fight, and at that time many people were less pessimistic about it. Why you guys demanding so much from GGG? Are you sure there are no double standards compared to other fighters?

The man fights 4 times a year to prove that he is the best. For most of the time he is separated from his beloved family in order to entertain you, he tries his best to get the best opponents. But you people are never happy.

Even though I haven't seen Adama in action I still believe he is a dangerous puncher, who had a close bout with Geale. He was never stopped.

I really don't understand the problem here.
Sergio obviously holding out for the big money fights
Barker tied up with Sturm and will most likely bring it back to England to defend for a while
        CHocolate can't fight
        Murray team rejected fight
Geale, don't know what's up for him. Shaw and him said something big coming up . I think he's holding out to win the regular title against Murray, but he's still got the rematch.

I'd rather have him do this then sit and wait for a fight to fall in his lap

This is how the MW division will get cleaned out. If Quillin/3G/Martinez/Barker aren't gonna fight each other, then fight everyone else until they do.

          • I understand dude's situation....but he can't wait for Sergio and Kid to man up and dance with him....he gotta keep his career moving....dude got a nice little buzz right now....so he should be trying to secure Froch or another relevant name at SMW and then pursue SOG.....when 154 was affected by the b1tchassness that's floating in 160 atm....dudes like Big Pun, Sergio and even Gabby moved up to get the name brand cats

Dude is getting P4P love from Lampley, regular on air blow jobs from Max and even Michael Buffer tweaked his intro a bit....these type of opponents are unacceptable for a dude that so many hold high....smh

So after this poor kid gets chilled....are people gonna act as if he just iced a prime Ray Robinson and compare to the great MWs?!?.....just asking

            • Ishida at Monte Carlo lead to the Macklin fight. I expect Adama in Monte Carlo will lead to Geale/Murray/Sturm/Barker or some other name.

GGG aint taking up a HBO date and he's not denying anyone of a deserved title shot. So there's nothing wrong with a stay busy fight.

Adama is not that bad btw. He's wild but sturdy.

And that's why having multiple belts hurts the sport. These guys can all win one without fighting the top guy then go to their respective markets and make money by pretending to be a champ.

If there was only 1 belt then they would have no choice but to pursue the champion, and the champion would eventually have to face the top contender or else vacate his spot.

Except that didn't always happen and when it did the contender in waiting could be past his best. Champions could and did hold the world championship at ransom for years. The idea of only one champion is completely unworkable, you'd end up with interim champions and silver and bronze champions and so on and the system would end up much the way it is today with the four sanctioning bodies.

As for Golovkin-Adama it is a fairly easy fight against a top 30 or so middleweight to stay busy and earn some good money. The fact that Adama fought one of the previous belt holders also gives a marker to what Golovkin can do to this opponent compared to what Geale did.

There's a simple fix. Just make it so that the champion must face his mandatory within a certain period of time.

That's what the alphabet groups currently do. If we could get rid of them, go back to having only one champion, AND keep that rule then the sport would be far better off.

Sure but how little or long would that period of time be, 18 months, 12 months, 6 months? From the fans perspective we'd want it to be as short as possible but fighters are trying to make money, for the one champion system to work for 'sporting' reasons you'd essentially be trying to force champions to fight for smaller money than they could get elsewhere almost every time they fought. Do you think professional boxers would get on board for all that? I don't think so. As completely undesirable it is having four sanctioning bodies there probably isn't any better alternative besides of course trying to make each sanctioning body function better.
