    People think the Lineal is difficult to understand but it's so easy.

    Here's my step by step guide to how Lineage works;

    1. The Lineage can only be won or lost in the ring, or the holder becomes a "no hoper" to return I.e Dead or disabled. It can not be relinquished.

    2. The Lineal Champion can return at any point from "Retirement" and still be the Lineal Champion. The "Magic R Word" has literally no relevance what so ever.

    3. You can win the Lineage in a higher weight class whilst defending a Belt in another weight class as long as the opponent misses the weight

    Really is that simple.
    Still feels like claim jumping to me.

      So is Mayweather the lineal junior welterweight champion as well since he beat Hatton?

        Leonard is still lineal champion from welterweight to light heavyweight. The GOAT.

          Somewhere someone somehow has Stieglitz as lineal champion.

            Sadly he lost his Middleweigt and Jr Middleweigt titles in the ring.

            But, he is still the current, reigning, Lineal Champion at WW, SMW AND LHW!

            Here's a thought;

            Imagine if Joe Calzaghe comes back to make his "legit claim" AND Leonard comes back to make his "legit claim" next year we will have THREE lineal champs in one weight class!

            Andre Ward Vs Joe Calzaghe Vs Ray Leonard.

            Triple threat for the true Lineage of SMW supremacy.

              Nah mate, that was at Welterweight.

              BUT, here's a solid hypothetical scenario, if Hatton and Mayweather had fought at 140 for Hattons belt but Mayweather came in at 141 and Hatton pulled off an amazing upset and defended his Jr Welterweigt belt, at Jr Welterweight, we'd have a new Lineal Welterweight Champion!

                Well, now it's been factually and objectively made aware that you cannot relinquish your Lineage and retiring from the sport doesn't mean you lose your lineage I'd imagine there's a whole lot of Lineal Champions still out there that don't even know it themselves.

                I wonder if Chris Walsh knows he was ever the Lineal MW Champion? Hell, I wonder if Darren Barker knows he is it right now! Someone should message him on Twitter.

                I mean, there's like 4 or 5 "legit claims" to the Lineage in each division most likely when you go back and "fact check"

                I honestly don't think I've ever seen a more logical and reasonable line of thinking than this. Beaming with common sense.

                  How can a "New" Lineage be established? The Lineage can only be won or lost in the ring or the current Lineal Champion is deemed a "No hoper" I.e Dead or disabled.
                  Why is there no hope? Joe Louis's corpse has at least 3:1 against Vlad

                    Interesting news;

                    On the dawn of tommorow's Lineal Middleweight title clash between Felix Sturm and Darren Barker, this rumour came out -

                    75 Year old Bob Foster has the itch again, and wants to come back and re-open his "legit claim" for his Light Heavyweight Lineage!!

                    Since he never lost it in the ring, this will mean their will be 3 Lineage's up for grabs at 175 - Andre Ward, Adonis Stevenson and Bob Foster.

                    Let's hope Joe Calzaghe makes a return and re-opens his "legit claim" to the Lineage because then there will be a real battle of the Lineage. Could even have a Lineage tournament! "The Super Lineage"!

                    Who needs four paper belts when you can have 4 Lineal belts in one division at one time!

                    Exciting stuff.

                      None of it matters because Bernard Hopkins is the Showtime Lineal Champion, which is clearly the real lineal champion instead of the HBO Lineal Champion.
