Does anyone really think Froch WOULDNT have stopped Groves?

You know interestingly enough, Froch would get more credit if he wins in the rematch as Groves proved himself in that same controversial fight. I don't think people would have given Froch credit had he won in his usual fashion. Me personally, while I strongly felt Froch would be victorious I always acknowledged that Groves had the tools.

Now anything is possible in boxing, but history is based on fact not fiction. And in the future history will show Groves knocking Froch down in the first, beating Froch to the punch round after round, getting robbed by the ref in the 9th, and winning the crowd over in Froch's hometown... You can justify the stoppage, forget what was happening before the fight was stopped, and judge Froch's ability to stop Groves based on Froch's previous fights with other fighters, but history will know the truth. Froch was on his way to a lost and Groves was on his way to a win, but the gods(money-makers) favored Froch and you know the rest...
But one cannot assess fights by using the logic of "he would have stopped him"...
We all saw it looked like Froch was on the verge of stopping Groves... But he didn't, actually.
Practically, the ref chose to stop Groves -- during a wild brawl in which Groves missed some punches and Froch landed some punches... One will never know if Groves was going to be staggered (because he wasn't staggered at that moment), or he was going to rebound... a.s.o.

If Groves was so hurt he could have clinched or taken a knee
He's been down before in the past and got back up
Froch landed two flush punches and missed he rest, and Groves also landed one flush punch, Groves was moving away from the ropes before the ref grabbed him
Froch was gassed swinging widely, and could have easily been countered with a heavy shot from Groves
Froch was saved by the ref all in allLast edited by FrankieBruno; 11-26-2013, 06:54 AM.

The fact that Groves turned his back the way he did tells me his head wasn't straight, and his survival instincts is definitely questionable.

Unfortunately, the rematch is subject to a number of yet to be defined variables. Such as: 1) Hearn would like to take the Wembley stadium as a venue for the rematch; 2) Hearn still maintains that Froch is the bigger draw and he would like Groves to ask for a moderate purse; 3) Hearn thinks that Froch still has options for other big fights (at the same venue) -- Andre Ward, Gennady Golokvin or Julio César Chávez Jr. They are all big fights on the world stage, while Froch v Groves II is massive in British terms it is not globally.

But didn't Groves leave the ropes? Did he lost his legs at that moment?
I would have wanted to see him staggered or dropped... It would have taken no more than 5 to 10 seconds... But the ref couldn't wait that much...
