Froch hurt Groves but at no point did Groves look out of it like Amir Khan did when Garcia nailed him and he was doing the funky chicken dance from there on. Groves was hurt but had enough about him to recover and get back in the fight, I think he may well have weathered the storm and made it to the final bell.
IMO Groves was winning the fight and his punches had a lot more venom on them than Froch's. Froch hurt him but no way to the point where it was a foregone conclusion that he was doomed,i think the odds were much better that he would have made the finall bell.

You can justify the stoppage, forget what was happening before the fight was stopped, and judge Froch's ability to stop Groves based on Froch's previous fights with other fighters, but history will know the truth. Froch was on his way to a lost and Groves was on his way to a win, but the gods(money-makers) favored Froch and you know the rest...
the fight was epic... ANNNNYTHING couldve happened from then on, and the ref robbed EVERYONE of a proper natural conclusion
      ^^this

Groves more or less walked the walk after talking the talk. All i saw Froch do was talk smack at the end. We will never really know the natural outcome of the fight, but Froch should stop hiding behind his promoter/trainer and man up for the rematch - the least he could do...

Watch round 12 of Martinez vs Chavez. An incompetent referee might have stopped the fight when Martinez got up from the KD and was eating bomb after bomb. Then dumb ass fans like OP would have made threads saying "Does anyone really think Chavez WOULDN'T have stopped Martinez?".

I honestly think groves would not have made it through the round. But thinking and knowing are not the same and as David Haye said, because of the ref we'll never know. That's the the key to this whole thing and why there is all the frustration, coupled with the fact that it was an amazing fight up to that point.

This is why I wasn't really screaming out about the stoppage as much as others were, for me I think he would have been stopped in the 9th round or the next round, when Froch landed the last punch (can't remember if it was a left or right hook) Groves eyes and neck went right under Froch like he was saying to himself "Am getting KO soon", but it would have been nice for us to see if Groves can weather the storm. According to the people I spoke to who were involve with the fight the ref didn't think Groves can muster anything from there on so he basically saved him from himself..

yeah he could have stopped him, it's far from certain though. Basically the fact that the ref messed it up and stopped it too early means we have threads like this.

I think it was the correct decision

you have to protect yourself at all times, that last right hand froch landedknocked groves for six, he stumbled with his head down running the run direction, why would anyone morally want to see if groves could eat more carl froch free shots?

There was a minute and a half left, it would have been horrible for groves. The ref saved his career.

I think it all worked out better for Groves, people claiming you were robbed and possibly getting a big pay day rematch is better than getting KO'd, no?

Pretty much. This is why I said he wasn't a loser on Saturday night. No matter what happened he won. Gets a rematch, got cheered walking out, seen as a warrior who backed up his talk, didn't get blamed in anyway etc.

I believe he was but we'll never know for sure.

The referee robbed Froch just as much as he did Groves, if not more so.

People are so hard on the Groves bandwagon that they refuse to see that the tide was clearly turning. Groves was getting very sloppy and fighting Froch's fight - brawling with him. He was badly hurt. Froch deserves credit for changing the complexion of the fight in his favour.
