When Balls Shrink: The Tale Of Brandon Rios

I honestly thought Garcia would have him work on more movement and doing something a little different from the normal Brandon Rios we see but all we got was semi typical Rios who didn't let his hands go as much as he normally does cause he was scared to exchange and get caught with a counter he can say he didn't feel any power from Pacquiao but if that was the case he wouldn't have "Clottey'd" up like he did

For being Bam Bam Rios, I expected him to throw some wild combinations at least even if they didn't catch Pac. I didn't see ANY of the hunger, determination or balls he claimed to be going into this fight with.
There's no way he thought he was anywhere near winning, even by the 8th, but he kept fighting the exact same way. He fought the 12th round the same as the first.
Really?
You know you're down, take a chance or a risk if you want to win... but I guess he just came to collect the check

He was at a point of no return and he was psychologically done. Just look at Froch vs Groves. I think the promotional aspect took a lot out of a seasoned veteran like Froch because he didn't even look like himself in there against Groves until the latter rounds. Rios' entire fight was drained for the promotional aspect of the bout and once he was in there he already did what he had to do. He probably began to believe all the haters that gave him no chance once he was already in the ring. All he could really do is be Pacquiao's punching bag and ask for more punishment because he had no fight left in him.
I fell for it like a sucker, I'll admit. Thought this would be a war to remember counting on Bam Bam's wild spirit.
And that point you make about being emotionally drained, you are on to something. I never thought that Bam Bam would get emotionally affected but he did. He was talking about butterflies, didn't get involved in the Roach/Garcia conflict, way too calm and quiet through the buildup... I do believe emotionally and psychologically he just lost himself.Last edited by The Problem Child; 11-24-2013, 08:53 PM.
