garcia is one of the planet's best trainers, and he runs one of hte planet's best gyms.

What has Garcia done to improve him though? Roach has turned Provodnikov (as well as others) into a much better fighter quite quickly whilst Rios doesn't seem to have developed as a fighter at all.

Robert Garcia is certainly no where near the trainer that Roach is.

Anyway, Garcia is a good trainer... Cant call him overrated for his fighters losing to amazing fighters (Donaire and Bam bam) and Donaire was NOT stepping up, it was Rigo stepping up who just happens to be amazing. You talk about Rios and Marg losing to Alvarado and Cotto but are 1-1 of two fights lol. Pac was coming off a brutal KO loss and a "loss" to Bradley. Kahn was getting beat down while with Roach and Chavez Jr was utterly dominated. Lets not forget Linares, and Prov losing to Bradley. Bottom line is, they're both good trainers and Roach happens to have Pac whos one of the best to ever do it.

Garcia has Mikey who's a stud and will be dominating for years to come (Donaire too once he gets his ish together).... Garcia right now IMO has more to look forward to as a much younger trainer. Once Pac's done Roach doesnt have a ton of star potential in his stable. Does that mean Garcia is the better trainer? No. We all know having a star in the stable can do big things for a trainer and Garcia has a huge upside considering his age and what hes done so far.

Props to both as trainers. I'd kill to have either train me if i was a pro boxer.
Marg beat Cotto pre garcia. marg joined garcia after

Khan has beaten better fighters than rios has and his chin is flawed to fight

pac lost to jmm who is a top fighter p4p
Prod lost to bradley who is a top fighter p4p
khan lost to the 140 lineal champ now... or guys on drugs
chavez jnr lost to the best fighter at 160...

Mikey hasn't even faced the top guys yet. He is a big guy fighting smaller guys and hasn't stepped up. Salido? Maritnez? Please....

Thing is, Robert is good, but he doesnt have plan B.

Abril and Pac it was the same advice.

Donaire had one advice and clearly he was just loading up...

Let's see how he does with Maidana

You answered your own question and are giving quite the double standard... Donaire, Rios and Marg all lost to amazing fighters in Pac and Rigo. Prov is just now getting the spotlight because if you watched him on Espn you knew he had it in him. Kahn has beaten better fighters than Rios? Like who... Zab and Paulie? Id bet good money on Rios vs either. Maybe even against Kahn (not with Roach anymore, but I'd have him in the fight). Remember Roach's advice and comments vs Martinez "Hes just too fast" this was during the fight. Donaire loads up because he's being an idiot, not because of Robert. The same way Kahn would rush in chin up like hes Hagler even though im positive Roach didnt want that.

Seriously what do you want Garcia to tell Rios vs Pac. Yes, as in BRANDON "one dimentional" Rios vs Manny effin Pacquiao, a modern atg. Did you want him to be like "Alright Brandon use your speed and start stepping around him and keep him off you with jabs." No. You know why he didnt give more advice? Because there's none. Because Rios cant do anything else. Know why he kept giving Donaire the same advice? Because Donaire wasnt making it happen (either by stubborn pride or just plain old couldnt).

Listen to Roaches advice in all his fights and even he has wtf moments or times where all he says is "let your hands go".

Mikey hasnt fought the top? Such as? Mikey IS the top. Why dont you talk about how great his fundementals are and how well hes doing? Or how hes shortened Maidana up a bit and made him fight a bit more educated? You cant turn Rios into Rigondeaux. Both trainers have to use what they have. Rios has done pretty well for himself, as has chavez Jr (coincidentally both are used to size advantages...probably due to lack of skill)

He kinda is. I didn't want to believe it at first but eventually you have to point out the obvious. I feel like a lot of these southern California fighters would be much better training with Joel Diaz.

Mikey is not at the top. He's got skill but again, your speed, power and skills are all tested when you face better guys. When you face better guys often you DO NOT look at class as you did.

Marg lost to Cotto easy in a rematch.
Rios lost to Abril (He did) and Alvarado who aren't the best.
Donaire has looked **** under Garcia, don't forgot some other fights such as Narvaez. Garcia has not taught him how to cut the ring off properly to this day.

Zab is better than Rios. Straight up achieved more and did well VS Danny. Rios can't deal with speed, or anyone who moves a bit.
                    Maidana is better than Rios.
Kotelnik may even be better than Rios. Koltenik could box his ass off better than Abril. Alvarado boxed and won, Kotelnik could box.
Honestly, even Paulie could beat Rios. Speed would make him look like a heavy bag again and Paulie is tough as ****. Rios and his power to KO Paulie? Nah I don't think so.

Rios aint draining himself to look like a damn skeleton fighting small guys now. He is at a weight he should be.
