JR KNEW PAC wouldn't take it, thats why he didn't go thru the channels of negotiations and simply called Pac on the phone
How is 20% of the overall bad when all you have to do is show and fight?

No point now, Pacquiao is way past his prime and damaged for good
Pacquiao was at his very best when he destroyed Barrera in November 2003. He was also the top fighter in November 2009 when he destroyed Cotto. That Pacquiao would have obliterated Mayweather.
Now it's a different Pacquiao. He's grown much older, his power and defense have suffered a lot. He couldn't knock Bradley down even once, whereas Provodnikov did no less than five times, even if the sellout referee ruled it differently.
But the most important thing is that brutal punch he got from Marquez. A punch like that is a career-changer. Pac will NEVER be the same after that. So of course, for Mayweather this is the perfect time to seek for that fight. A damaged, out of his prime Pacman will be an easy victory for him NOW but it would have been a sure loss years ago, when Pac was at his 100%
I'm sure most people realize this situation. Pac is a has-been now and Mayweather is almost at his best form. If this fight takes place, IT WILL NOT define who is the best of his era.
This era has been dominated by those two fighters. Here's something interesting:
The Ring Magazine's Annual Ratings
From 2000 to 2012 (#1 pound for pound fighter)
2000 Mosley
2001 Mosley
2002 Hopkins
2003 Jones Jr.
2004 Hopkins
2005 Mayweather Jr
2006 Mayweather Jr
2007 Mayweather Jr
2008 Pacquiao
2009 Pacquiao
2010 Pacquiao
2011 Pacquiao
2012 Mayweather Jr
2013 Mayweather Jr
Yes, I know the 2013 fighter hasn't even been chosen yet, but it is 100% obvious that it will be Mayweather Jr., after his convincing victory over Canelo Alvarez. So there you go, from 2000 to 2013, Mayweather has been a 5-time P4P king, while Pacquiao has been the king four times, but in his case, he was a back to back king. He lost his crown in 2012 when he was robbed vs. Bradley and then brutally KO'd by Marquez.
So it's easy to see that Pacquiao LOST his prime in 2012 and he will NEVER recover it. The so-called super-fight makes no sense now. Had it happened between 2003 and June 2012, it would have been probably the best fight ever. Now it would be a one-sided fight where Mayweather would win easily.
Frankly, I don't understand why people are even interested in such a fight NOW. Floyd would be fighting a has been, a guy who WAS the greatest at a certain time, pretty much the same as when Pacquiao defeated a has-been Mosley (and a bit later, EVEN CANELO ALVAREZ defeated Mosley too!).
IMO the only guy capable of beating Floyd today is Rigondeaux, but there's a little problem: he fights five weight divisions below Mayweather --a super-bantamweight vs. a welterweight who sometimes even fights super-welterweight?
So sadly, there's no competition for Floyd TODAY. I really hope somebody proves me wrong in 2014 because I totally dislike Mayweather Jr and his cowardly style of fighting. But I just don't see who can beat him. Nobody has the necessary foot and hand speed, combined with tireless stamina and power that Pacquiao had in his prime, which was more than enough to beat a 100% defensive Floyd. Certainly, an over-the-hill and permanently-damaged Pacquiao stands no chance IMO!Last edited by sterilizer; 11-21-2013, 10:43 PM.

Truth is Floyd still has no one to fight next. I believe they're waiting for the outcome of this fight. If pac is impressive, talks might start again. I think both parties realize there's too much money still to be made to throw it away. There was also a rumor before about an arena being built to hoat the fight. Wonder if there's any truth to that, and if there is, if the arena is done. Either way, may deserves the lion share 60-40
