  • Everyone is open to a fight with Floyd. Who wouldn't? It is the biggest paycheck for Floyd's opponents.

Terrible, what kind of moron thinks floyd can be outboxed? He is the best. He needs to be out brawled and drawn into a fight. The one thing Pac has is speed and speed kills.

Lara Trout no shot and no fans.

All roads lead to Pac / Floyd otherwise showtime takes a bath on their six fight sucker deal with lameweather. Bravo Al Haymon.

Yes this makes complete sense and is close enough to fair.

Why do the Floyd fans not want to see the biggest fight in boxing? Why all the excuses and critisism of Pac, look at Floyds last few fights and the level of competition yawn.

That stadium thing is an idiotic proposition only those with no business sense would support.

Any venture has one purpose and one purpose ALONE -- MAXIMIZING SHAREHOLDER WEALTH.

In layman's terms, that means collecting as much dough as possible. Where do you get the biggest gate? Arum said the stadium would add another $20m to the pot.

Let's do the math, shall we? (Warning: Ownage coming)

May-Pac does $20m in gate. So the stadium need to generate an additional $20m for his nonsense to hold water -- PLUS the $7m he says it would cost to build that structure (yeah, right...), which would be amortized over two years, but let's forget about that for a second and keep the equation simple...

Discounting DCF, NPV, EBIT and the like, for the stadium to be feasible, it must produce at least $50m in gate money. Remember, you're leaving a massive MGM site fee on the table as well.

100,000 spectators. Not easy to do. But if any fight can, this one will.

In order to generate that, you need to have an average of $500 per ticket.

By comparison, MGM Grand you get $1250 per ticket, on average, plus a site fee that
probably puts the revenue per customer (or, RPU) at $2500.

So $500 should be easy, right? All good in theory, right? NO!

Nose-bleed seats would NOT go for that much in a stadium. It would make it nearly impossible to recoup the monies necessary to make the stadium feasible (so whoever that moron was who said it was a reasonable option -- NO! It wasn't. Pay attention.).

Also, ticket sales could be going slow because so many would be available. Comps. Etc. Another risk.

At the end of the day, not only would they not be leaving money on the table, it would be a foolish idea. But Arum -- the dude is smart -- understands that most people just see it from the simplistic standpoint that "more money, more people!"

Finally, by having access to that many people, what do you think happens to closed circuit revenues? They would also get record breaking numbers from that.

The reason closed circuit works is because people want to see what they can watch in a movie theater for $15-20 but feel like they're close to the action. (Never understood the appeal, TBH.)

So the less people you have in the arena, the more you can inflate the prices, as history clearly tells you.

Even without those 85,000 extra people that would come to the stadium, assuming a sellout, if they can't find a ticket, guess where they're going. They're buying PPV. Closed-circuit. Spending money in the bars.

Do the math: 85,000 fight fans in Vegas willing to buy a ticket. They must pay anywhere from $75-$100. That's over $5m.

I think I've made my point now. It is what it is. If anyone still supports that stadium theory, no offense, but you must be a freakin' moron.

          • You cant even 'cashout' on this fight. Pac will make far more fighting a bum than he would against mayweather.

If Pac's making 25 mil to fight rios theres no way hes getting that kind of money on top of what mayweather is making. Theres not 70 mil in this fight any more. Yet alone the fabled 100 mil that was banded around before.

I wish Bob would stop using Mayweathers name to promote his fighter when there's no interest in matching them.

            • Why do people keep arguing about the $ split.

Boxing is a business and it is about who is the bigger draw and can sell more tickets. Previous poster has said that Floyd sells about 100k more PPVs than Pac that is around 9% difference.

The purse should be close to 50/50 and 60/40 Floyd favour at most.

This fight if it happens does 3m PPV buys biggest ever count on that.

The claim that Floyd offering a flat fee of $40m is ludicrious no one would accept that.

Floyd and Pac are both A sides and that is what makes this fight great.

Pacquiao was offered an even split in 09 even though he didn't have the resume that Mayweather possessed all that was asked was random urine and blood testing prior to the fight. He refused, prior to Mayweather being incarcerated he offered the fight to Pacquiao even offering him a flat 40 million and Pacquiao again refused and went on to lose 2 fights in a row. If Manny really wants this fight he has to agree to ALL terms because the fight has lost steam and he's responsible for it.

Exactly and no one is denying Floyd would be a favourite but he is petrified of fighting an opponent with a chance.
