i'm just going on the eye test / considering the size of his peers and the landscape boxing with a 30 hour window after the weigh in, but i have a hard time believing him if that's what he says. obviously i'm not weighing carl froch all the time, so i'm just speculating based on what he looks like (fit, but not fighting fit,) and what his peers will go through physically after they fight. ward, dirrell, kessler, even abraham, a former middlewieght, all get well over 180 lbs quickly after they finish training. i'd have to talk to a modern pro trainer to really pin down the weights, but virtually everybody is walking around much heavier than they are fighting.
that would essentially mean that froch is a much smaller guy who could make lower weights, and i have a hard time believing that. it's all but impossible to stay in weigh in shape year round unless there's weight to lose.
I have no evidence but that's what he and his trainer say. I don't see a reason to lie.
I'm not sure of his fight weights, I'm sure they'll be accessible.
Froch has said he'd rather move down in weight than up (Catchweight's either way) he's shown that he generally doesn't feel comfortable moving up in weight which probably supports his claims. He said the other week that he sometimes even loads his carbs days before the weigh in.
A lot of what he say's add's up.
There's no way he'd make 160 but he's very confident he could make 164-165 healthily and with relative ease. He said he's willing to move up but certainly doesn't want to and if he does would require a catchweight.
He gets a lot of stick DeGale, but i think he will give anyone in the division a problem.
I don't think so myself.
I've not been impressed with him at European level, felt he lost to that Pitor fella and has looked underwhelming a few times against guy's who aren't even contenders.
