I mean it was a mismatch (as was Ward-Froch, Ward-Kessler, Ward-Abraham Ward-insert-top-10-168lber) but there wasn't really an excessive amount of cheap spoiler tactics in this fight. He dissected Rodriguez mostly with pure boxing, not cheap tricks. Hooks, Lead rights, 1-2's, combinations, body shots, counter hooks, brilliant infighting, brilliant defense and a stiff powerful jab were all on display in this fight. A much more complete & well rounded performance than Floyd showcased against either Guerrero or Canelo, which everybody regards as such great masterpieces.

In the long run, Ward will be fine. And has a bigger upside and will likely end up with the greater career as well as the larger pot in career earnings than any of his other HBO stablemates who outdrew him in viewership this year. As long as he remains successful & consistent. Btw i wouldn't take too much stock in just tv ratings alone when comparing overall drawing power. Broner does bigger numbers on Showtime than Canelo. Who would you say is the bigger draw between the two? I can almost gaurantee you, none of those other guys on HBO can draw 10,000+ to their fights in their hometowns like Ward has done multiple times. Or at least they haven't proven they can do so. For example, in Golovkin's last fight in his home country, there probably wasn't 300 people there and the last time he fought in Europe period (Germany) the fight took place in a empty hotel with literally not even 100 people in attendance. No joke.

Ward will get the last laugh in the end.

    Nice post.

I have a hard time believing GGG its a weak draw in Europe, though. Why would Golovkin's people not promote him at home?
Cause the better fighters are here and everybody wants to be on HBO.

Im told by various sources that Ward-Rodriguez on HBO peaked at 1.2 million. Which is less than Garcia-Lopez, Bradley-Provo and GGG-Stevens

And Ward-Rodriguez had a whopping license fee of $3.15 million. And yes, the rest of the #boxing industry is aware that figure

Ward really needs to work something out with his boring style. People watch boxing for action and excitement, not for non-stop hugging and fouling.
So GGG against some unknown midget had a higher rating than Ward? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

OH, let me catch my breath...LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOL

It's almost exclusively Americans lol, the Euros were in bed sleeping when this thread was made.
That's not true, I was on my couch, sleeping in front of TV.

EDIT: Oh, you were talking about this thread, not Ward's fight

It does seem like HBO paid over the odds for this fight. 1.3 million isn't terrible though. It's not anything to write home about but it's not a disaster either. Sergio normally only did around a million on HBO, well below that for the Murray fight.

The Tyson show did only 880,000.

This is in line with what Ward did with Dawson. And its higher than the stacked card with Mikey and Donaire a week ago.

It was lower. The Mikey fight peaked at 1.22M.

Doesn't mean much when you've only fought the network once and then disappeared over a year. Do the commentators not love GGG or any other network fighters all the sudden?
