Ward-Rodriguez on HBO peaks at 1.2 mil viewers

Im told by various sources that Ward-Rodriguez on HBO peaked at 1.2 million. Which is less than Garcia-Lopez, Bradley-Provo and GGG-Stevens

    Steve Kim ‏@stevemaxboxing 2m
And Ward-Rodriguez had a whopping license fee of $3.15 million. And yes, the rest of the #boxing industry is aware that figure

Ward really needs to work something out with his boring style. People watch boxing for action and excitement, not for non-stop hugging and fouling.

UPDATE (turns out it's even WORSE):

    (He meant peak for 1,191,000)

So yeah, 1 million average viewers for the $3.2 million license fee is embarrassingly awful.

I guess its an investment in the future with Ward. He needs a lot more exposure and to be fighting regularly. It didn't help that by the morning of the fight it was clear his opponent didn't stand a chance.

Also unlike those other fights this was just a tune-up.

With that being said, those are very poor numbers. He did less than Golovkin. That's very sad. Ward must feel humiliated.

Lol all those other fights where tune ups. No one gave provo a chance against bradley or lopez vs garcia. Or stevens over ggg. Ward is boring as sht cant draw flies to sht and gets over paid

Yeah there wasn't really any intrigue going into this one. Ward would be favored in most matchups but this time around there wasn't any buzz around Rodriguez pulling off the upset. The weigh-in fiasco pretty much quieted any notion that Edwin was going to win the fight

Rodriguez was WAY overpaid for the fight but I thought it was pretty clear that HBO was desperate just to get Ward back in the ring again with a somewhat credible opponent.

Ward needs to wake up..... he needs to change his style and stop holding when it isn't necessary.
