He's not lying. GGG and Ward are not nearly near the top of their PPV making power. This isn't Pac vs Floyd. This would be like putting the Pac that fought fought Barrera vs. pre-de la hoya floyd.

The fight isn't even PPV worthy for casuals yet (it might be for hard core fans like us; but trust me, most casuals don't know either of these guys). It's not time yet.

For purposes of this thread HBO's attitude toward Mora releative to how he would make GGG look is the only thing I find relevant. HBO not approving th MOra fight and HBO telling us through Lampley that ward/ggg is not a fight we want to see right now are examples of them protecting their investment/push.

Hopefully, HBO will begin to build toward this fight this year. I hope they do for 2 reasons-its a great fight and IMO it will bring the GGG hype train to a screeching stop.

Ideally-GGG beats sergio then froch. Realistically he might have to do Mora and Froch if dibella keeps sergio away from him.

HBO hasn't pushed Ward the way they have GGG but HBO clearly benefits from both continuing to win and building up to the fight to maximize profit.

Giving both high profile fights they can win gets them both in the public eye and hopefully makes the ppv bigger.

Hopefully before the end of 2014 I can go to MSG and watch ward v GGG.

They haven't pushed Ward, they just paid him 2x more for 1 fight than GGG made on HBO in 4 fights. They also never talk him up, nor exaggerate his power, etc.

OK, but what does all of that have to do with them protecting GGG against a fringe contender and no hoper who's been blacklisted from both networks for years?
