Martinez to do Rubio mandatory without HBO

    If no Cotto fight.

"Rubio has been given a firm offer to fight in Argentina. Regrettably, the networks only do fights in the US, and the Mexican isn't attractive for HBO. For that reason the fight has to be in South America. Over there, he'll earn less but he'll have a world title shot" said Sampson Lewkowicz.

Really? Rubio Vs Chavez got the highest HBO rating in the last 4+ years. I'd bet if HBO covered it, it would be Sergio's highest viewership. Mexicans love Rubio

Looks like Sergio will be facing Rubio, WBC are backed into a corner

That's crazy, Rubio has been on HBO multiple times and Sergio is gonna put up solid numbers by himself alone. HBO is ******, they would rather show some up and coming dude with 10 wins instead of a the middleweight championship of the world which is also serving as the much anticipated return of the middleweight champ. Everyone wants to "see how much he has left in the tank"......just ****** for passing it up......it would do well over a million views.

          This makes no sense,,

HBO covered murray-serg from south america,,, plus i dont remember the exact main event but wasnt broner-litzau on the undercard from south america a few years ago

serg will put up solid numbers,,,,

i do think this is a very close fight,, unless serg found the fountain of youth, rubio will be a handful for him

            Wait.... what?
The networks only do fights in the U.S?
Didn't they broadcast his last fight?

I guess the good thing about this is that this fight won't be part of his HBO contract. So he'll still have at least another 2 fights in him after Rubio.

eh, I think you're overestimating Rubio's importance in the rating. Chavez hype probably just reached peak momentum. Donaire on the undercard coming off the Montiel KO probably also helped.

At least we have some clarity on Sergio's next fight.

Can't wait to see how he looks.

It'll be a good comeback fight... Rubio will press him.... but I don't see him having too much trouble
