i dont believe in such thing as a lucky punch but the k.o did'nt look like some master strategy that tarver had devised. the way i see it is tarver happend to be in the right place at the right time with the perfect punch. he deserves credit for that monster shot but the way it took place was one of those rare, "perfect" moments you dont see very often in boxing...

Perfect punch- Tarver's not just wildly swinging- thats a crisp left hook, and it landed flush- planned all the way- he probably didn't think of it as a KO punch, but it turned into one- one of the more memorable one-punch KO's of recent history.

            I think "lucky" punches exist...

Say, perhaps 2 fighters are just brawling and throwing bombs. The control isnt really there... they are like fighting on the inside and just throwing everything they have. Thats when the boxing goes out the window and the sweet science no longer plays a part. Its then down to who lands the shot that puts the other one out... not a conscious decision to land a shot... just like a wild swing. So in my opinion lucky shots exist.

That shot however, was not lucky. I actually think Roy was using the wrong defensive method. He was backing out and leaning back slightly, whilst not having his hand in the right place to block the punch from Tarver, or his eyes fixed in the right position to not get blind sided.... Good shot either way.

It wasn't a left hook at all.

Tarver's a south paw, and that was an overhand left.

no.... that makes absolutely no sense....they usually squint they're eyes(so maybe they appear closed, but they're not). only times SOME fighters close their eyes is if they get hit in the face(& thats only for a half second)
