word is that he wanted to go to the hospital right after the fight they didn't take him and the supposed promoter sampson said you're ok will take you to the hospital tomorrow then on the way back to the hotel he almost died and they rushed him to the hospital where they found the blood clot and the subsequent stroke. What's fishy is that the promotion team has been lying to us since Sunday, they said he was in "stable condition" yet he had a stroke and was on life support then once the actual truth leaked out they admitted to it and use the "family excuse" "we didn't want to say anything" yet his family was already there (father, brother wife and daughters) , Now they set up this "trust fund" to try to make themselves out to be the saints

But when this happens (Or if the fighter quits after taking too many power punches) armchair warriors come out in full force insulting the fighter and labeling him a quitter and calling him all kinds of names. If you argue against them, they refute your argument by bringing up fights in which fighters fought through with an injury like a broken jaw, etc. Which ever fighter doesn't reenact these valiant performances when given the chance, is a lesser man in their eyes, deemed unworthy of the label of "warrior".

If the fighter goes on to continue fighting even when he is taking too many clean power punches to the head, and his career starts dwindling after that, fans say "Fighter A ruined him" or "He was a warrior, but he should have quit in that fight, he was ******." Basically you can never win with boxing fans, they are too judgmental.

Exactly, wimpy soft ''fans'' hating on the 22 year old Ortiz for being a ''coward'' for quitting after taking multiple flush punches from the hardest p4p puncher in boxing.

This fight made the front of the NY Post today, some shocking things revealed:

The New York Commission and the Promotion should be investigated by the FBI someone has to be held liable this is happening far too often, this is not the first fighter this has happened to under sampson leukowicz boxing promotion

it's a brutal fight. both guys took bombs. magomed took bombs from round one, and was wobbled several times. he showed a great chin and tremendous courage. perez showed a great chin himself, and an elite level of offense for a HW without a great punch or arm length. great work to the body, combinations, top flight boxing from a very big man. his legs are like f#cking trees.


there was no way at all to know that magomed was so badly hurt. i wish there was, because it would be easier to keep these things from happening in the future.

i watched it live, and i watched it last night to get a better look at it. i will never watch it again.

Do you guys think maybe they should make brain scans post fight mandatory? Or maybe every 2 months or something so if there is something wrong they can catch it before it become much worse. This is just incredibly sad.

Sensationalizes in what way? The guy had a broken hand, nose, jaw and swollen cheek/face and they didnt even call an ambulance for him. Just told his team to take him to the hospital to check out his nose.

Im not sure why they have 5 doctors there if all they do is make you count to 5

i'm not saying htat it was done in this story. like i said, all they did was tell the story this time. the story "sells" itself without any any bells and whistles. abdusalamov's condition was neglected by five doctors, including the top doctor for the NYSAC. that's a story that writes itself. no hyperbole required.

i remember when the marathon was bombed in boston they picked out two innocent young people from the crowd and put them on the front page because they had on backpacks. they've got a reputation for it, especially with their headlines and front page stuff, or at least they did when i was living in new york. perhaps they've changed things around some, as i moved out of new york almost five years ago.
