Watched this fight again last night. What a warrior. I understand why they (ref/corner) did not stop it, though like mentioned on this thread - sometimes you have to save a fighter from himself.

I think it would be quite interesting for fans to know more about insurance in boxing (how, when, limits, etc), especially after such cases when Mago didn't have coverage for serious injuries. Time for some out of the box reporting for boxing journalists.

Yea what happened to all the real journalists ? seems like all the journalists and reporters these days are all bought out propaganda agents

there really aren't any. "journalists" in boxing are mostly unpaid and likely not educated as journalists. people don't read newspapers any longer. they certainly don't read them for boxing articles.


even if boxing were proliferated by world class journalists, the entirety of a contract isn't something to which the public is entitled.

But when this happens (Or if the fighter quits after taking too many power punches) armchair warriors come out in full force insulting the fighter and labeling him a quitter and calling him all kinds of names. If you argue against them, they refute your argument by bringing up fights in which fighters fought through with an injury like a broken jaw, etc. Which ever fighter doesn't reenact these valiant performances when given the chance, is a lesser man in their eyes, deemed unworthy of the label of "warrior".

If the fighter goes on to continue fighting even when he is taking too many clean power punches to the head, and his career starts dwindling after that, fans say "Fighter A ruined him" or "He was a warrior, but he should have quit in that fight, he was ******." Basically you can never win with boxing fans, they are too judgmental.

Sadly this is true. I will admit I'm even guilty of it, i've poked fun at ortiz and others for quitting all in fun just for jokes. I would never wish something like this on a fighter though, I respect everyone that steps into the ring.

I really hope magomed can pull through but from what I'm reading it doesnt look very good.

When ever I hear they had to do surgery it scares me for the fighter. Rarely is the fighter ever alright after that surgery.
