I can't say i would have done anything different at that moment but obviously if they had a crystal ball they of course would have thrown the towel. All i have is positive thoughts for him and his camp hope he recovers.

Medically induced comas (which I researched yesterday) are generally performed when a patient's brain has swollen and pressure must be relieved to prevent further damage to the organ.
I prefer to think positively about Mago's future. What he's experiencing right now is obviously grave, but he's a brave young man with gigantic heart. I'm hopeful those qualities will see him through.Last edited by Shad0wB0xer; 11-06-2013, 01:59 AM.

Much love to Magomed and his family.
If anyone from his camp reads this site, please let them know we are all pulling for him.

nobody is completely responsible for what happened, but the majorty of blame will go to the corner. referees historically are concerned most with the ability of a fighter to protect himself, and whether or not he can throw back meaningful punches. magomed fit he criteria.
the corner knows their guy the best. they know what he looks like when he's exhausted. they get the best look at him, by getting six inches to a foot away in between rounds.
it's not jackson's fault exclusively, but he's where the majority of blame is going to fall, and rightfully so.

for the edificatyion of those in the thread:
abdusalamovhad a stroke either late sunday night or early monday morning. his fever hit 104. he is on "life support."
he will never box again. he is not out of the woods. i am hopeful that he will recover and make a normal life, but that is starting to look more and more unlikely.
he has three kids.

From my understanding, medically induced comas are done when someone has sustained brain damage that's caused swelling or bleeding. If that's the case, I can't recall too many instances where a boxer in this situation came out of it.
Almost any patient in a coma will be in "stable" condition...but that is far from them being in good shape.

it doesn't appear as though he was ever in "stable condition."
a 104 fever and a stroke is far from stable, and it appears as though the stoke occurred as early as sunday night.
his corner had an interest in understating his injuries, as gross as that sounds. if they ever had to reapply for a license they'd be better off if the extent of the injuries were never known publicly or by the commission.
now that it's clear that magomed is done boxing, they're probably more likely to come out with the extent of his injuries. it will also help them raise funds for the family. boxing is a hurt business.
