That's irrelevant - and he lost to Mayweather and Trout - but it's not like they weren't bad performances at all. The Trout fight he looked sluggish - but it hey, you experience a high when fighting on the stage like fighting Mayweather - it happens.Cotto lost 2 out of 3 and the one win was Delvin Rodriquez and you all think he is ready for the MW champion of the world having never fought at MW and being called a small JRMW! Cotto gets embarrassed against both. Like i been saying if it happens itll remind us why we have weight classes
And that's besides the point - Cotto and Maravilla are two vets who've been at this game a looooong time - it'll be a great fight even if Maravilla pounds Cotto out. Canelo's first time stepping up and he gets embarrassed. I like him - I think he'll be great - but how does one go from one embarrassing defeat to another high-profile fight.
"Fans" complain when fighters get multiple shots or someone is passed over after losing - yet want Canelo to bypass other fighters who aren't coming off of bad defeats.Comment

I don't want to see Canelo in any tune up fights anytime soon...all big dawgs from here on out! Even If he loses his next fight, he's tune up should be a B+ or higher!!This is the first time in a long time where a guy is absolutely out-classed 12-0 or at best 11-1 in his last fight, where everyone is so eager to see him in a huge high-profile fight immediately afterwards. It's kind of strange really.
Other than money - it does nothing for Cotto's legacy - he beat a guy coming off of a 12-0 defeat to Mayweather. Mayweather will always get that single glory unless Canelo regroups and gathers himself up and wins a few more times. Cotto-Canelo can happen a bit later.
I want to see Cotto-Martinez. It might not be worth as much $$ - but the W will be far greater than beating Canelo at this point.
I hope Cotto goes the legacy routeComment

I think the Floyd fight proved that he just isn't ready yet.
Everyone around him - gassing him up - having him feel himself -thinking that he's grafted from the juices of Ricardo Lopez and Chavez Sr.
He has plenty of time to be in nothing in prime-time fights. That dude is about to fizzle out like El Feroz if they don't pace him right. He got his huge chance - he failed miserably - now it's time to fight some solid C+/B- types of guys, and fight guys who'll keep coming forward. We don't even know if he can take a solid punch. A Lightweight nearly killed him a few years ago - I'd like to see him against some heavy ****ers at 154/160 like Kirkland and Angulo. Some mid-range guys who are still decent and provide a challenge
Three PPVs in a row in 2014 seems excessive for a guy - by going by the eye test of the Floyd fight just isn't that good. Since he's going PPV - obviously they should be against B+/A guys
But that being said - I still prefer Cotto/Maravilla - It just means WAY moreComment

But he failed to the best...nothing to frown on. It was either Latino pride or ppl banking on thesize ddifference that made ppl pick Canelo to pull off the upset...not skill! He fought tons of cans, I wouldn't mind seeing him against Kirkland of El Feroz but those wins won't do anything but start the hype train all over again. He's 24 with like 50 fights...sink or swim from here on out unless he loses his next fight.I think the Floyd fight proved that he just isn't ready yet.
