I still say any combination of Alvarez/Cotto/Martinez is a goddamn awesome fight. I don't want to wait 'til May!

With that said, I've got Martinez all the way. Both are tough-ass fights for him, but I believe he still has one great performance left to give.

Cotto should fight Sergio next......huge ppv and a 50/50 fight!

Cotto vs ginger after that fight, Cotto is mos def the A-Side. 70/30 fight in favor of the boriken!

Both Chris Mannix and Steve Kim claim HBO has rights to Cotto's next fight. So even if he is a free agent, he can't work with anyone but Top Rank.

This is the first time in a long time where a guy is absolutely out-classed 12-0 or at best 11-1 in his last fight, where everyone is so eager to see him in a huge high-profile fight immediately afterwards. It's kind of strange really.

Other than money - it does nothing for Cotto's legacy - he beat a guy coming off of a 12-0 defeat to Mayweather. Mayweather will always get that single glory unless Canelo regroups and gathers himself up and wins a few more times. Cotto-Canelo can happen a bit later.

I want to see Cotto-Martinez. It might not be worth as much $$ - but the W will be far greater than beating Canelo at this point.

I hope Cotto goes the legacy route

Cotto lost 2 out of 3 and the one win was Delvin Rodriquez and you all think he is ready for the MW champion of the world having never fought at MW and being called a small JRMW! Cotto gets embarrassed against both. Like i been saying if it happens itll remind us why we have weight classes

First time poster, long time lurker...so I decided to get an account!

If Cotto goes after Sergio's linear and happens to win it will likely buy him a direct ticket to a Floyd rematch. You could put "money" (literally) on that. Additionally, it will bring Cotto his 4th Div tittle along with the bragging rights.

Fighting Canelo does nothing for him other than a (assumed) big purse, but he will not get "full" credit since Canelo's record is...."padded or inflated" and the same people who hyped him will say that he was not ready for Cotto.

Lastly, assuming that he fights Maravilla and wins, and HBO says that he must fight GGG that based on some old thread I read when Cotto was training in Big Bear that he spared GGG and looked good? The source was not confirmed and since I read other thread stating the contrary. Interesting and fascinating!

where's that assumption that cotto will earn more money fighting canelo than martinez is coming from? has there been offers made by both sides to warrant such assumption or just a mere fanboy hunch
