I think Canelo is the B side. If this fight happens this fight should be a 50/50 split.

The logic in here ****ing amazing.....

So are you saying Cotto should be the "B-side" to a guy who made an entire career out of fighting bum ass fringe ESPN fighters, and only cause he had the less crappy performance that night, got a questionable decision against Trout ?

As long as we're bringing up performances against common opponents, keep in mind Canelo's performance against Floyd made Guerrero look like a world beater, while Cotto gave Mayweather his best fight since DLH.

See? it works both ways. Truth is its hard to gauge where Canelo's popularity is right now. He may still be quite popular, but the truth is "The One" had everything going for it: p4p #1 cashcow vs mexican kid groomed for years for that fight, took place on a mexican holiday, and had a strong undercard. Take all that away and then add the fact that he lost and looked horrible in doing so, and you could have anything between a moderate and a huge drop in marketability.

The logical thing to do would be to put him against a mid tier contender and see how the ratings go.

it should be 50/50 down the line if they fought btw..

Cotto has the better career and is well known. but Canelo is well known and can bring a ****load of fans in too. They both can. And there both known as a entertaining fighters so everyone will lavish at this match up imo.

And to the people saying Canelos popularity is unknown is being ignorant to known history... DLH, Trinidad, Mosley, etc have all lost before, in their primes too and still put butts in the seats their next fights. The proof is in history. Canelo will still be popular, Cotto has, Pacquiao has and will continue to be so that statement is moot..

You have PR vs Mex side to sell to this aswell, You have can Canelo beat a new Cotto side, Can Canelo come back from Mayweather lose side, Two exciting fighters side, so much that can sell this fight.

Let me get this straight. Canelo only has one good win in his entire career but yet people say he gets the A side over an established Miguel Cotto? You people must be mentally slow or mexican.

Sergio was way more established than Chavez Jr...why wasn't he the A-side?

I mean this is based on what exactly? Was there a Canelo fight after the Floyd loss that I missed and it bombed on the ratings? What are the basis for these claims?

I suggest we wait for Canelo's next fight, maybe? See if he has lost support or if he's less popular now? See his ratings? IDK, that's if you guys want. If not then keep making false claims.
Who cares if Canelo still has a good following. The names should be placed on whos more deserving out of the two, which is a no brainer in Cotto. Cotto is the bigger name and more established.

Cotto right now. Unless he gets a belt. Canelo just sold the highest grossing ppv of all time.

Two reasons. Because of the Chavez Sr legacy and because Sergio isnt well known to a casual boxing fan, he's more established to us hardcore fans.
