Thnx fellas. I find it kind of funny that Canelo is the one giving 'Marching orders' to Cotto/Martinez after he's underperformed against floyd and currently coming off a loss. Ah well. I believe Cotto should recieve a slightly bigger slice of pie. Canelo's homing in on him though.

Cotto had the highest Showtime ratings for last year and has had the highest HBO ratings for this year. And both times were with unknown opponents. Mayweather-Alvarez did well because it was a fresh face, but that luster has been lost.

I took the "marching orders" comment as in Canelo gives marching orders for Schaefer and his handlers to get him those fights. Not giving marching orders to Cotto and Martinez to fight him.

              Yea, basically.

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1 30 KOs) has given the marching orders to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer.
It continues that Canelo and his handlers have asked Richard Schaefer to secure either Martinez or Cotto.

Says nothing about ultimatums to Cotto or Martinez, or Canelo giving orders to them.

To you and bojangles saying that Canelo is not as popular anymore, what are you basing this on? He hasn't even had a fight after Mayweather, and already "Luster has been lost", "Canelo lost so now he won't get same support"

I mean this is based on what exactly? Was there a Canelo fight after the Floyd loss that I missed and it bombed on the ratings? What are the basis for these claims?

I suggest we wait for Canelo's next fight, maybe? See if he has lost support or if he's less popular now? See his ratings? IDK, that's if you guys want. If not then keep making false claims.

You're right, thanks for reiterating. I sort of bypassed that line, not going to lie. Who do you have in that fight btw? I'm slightly inclined to side with Cotto, I don't know that Canelo's low offensive output will be enough to tame the Puerto Rican's aggression. Cotto's not impossible to find either which is why I see a close fight.

The logic in here ****ing amazing.....
The logic is who puts butts in seats. And, while its close, Cotto is the only one of the two to headline a meaty PPV and has the track longer record of drawing fans.

Thing is this fight sells itself anyway so its not like it would even be a one-sided promotion. Lots of ways to market this fight to two big fan bases.

Don't get me wrong. He's still a big cash cow, but the Mayweather fight did so well because it caught the imagination and hopes of the Mexican crowd. But it was a once in a lifetime thing. He had one chance. He lost though, so that feeling can't be replicated anymore. Do you think that if both Canelo and Cotto had a rematch with Mayweather, Canelo-Mayweather II would outsell Cotto-Mayweather II? I don't.
