    I think ****m Richardson is a phony

The way he talks, the whining, his long winded stories and analogies.
The way he talked about Dawson after Dawson was beat down by Ward - there was some sincere malice there...I think he was still spitefull that Dawson punked Bernard before the fights, during and after.

Then his talk about Fury and trying to lecture him and what not. His talk of never meeting John Scully.

In general he talks a lot like he knows a lot, like he's been through a lot and like he's super wise, tough and God-fearing but something doesn't click. I think at times he's trying too hard and people are getting caught with his one liners like "swim without getting wet". He's a good talker and maybe I don't know much about him, maybe he's a good trainer too, like I said maybe I am missing something on him but my intuition is that he's a poser and his character isn't what he says it is or what he tries to present it as. I think he's slipped a few times.

Like most trainers he's heavily biased towards his own fighters, it's just that we're told he's some sort of guru who is above that sort of thing. He isn't.

      Agreed.

I never thought he was anything special.

Phony in what area? Richardson does appear to know a lot, he "whines" when he feels his fighter has been wrong and his "long winded" stories and analogies are great to me due to how long he has been in the game and how you can apply those analogies to outside situations.

Even if there was some sort of spite towards Dawson, due to what Richardson felt was disrespect during the Dawson/ Hopkins buildup, the point Richardson was trying to drive home was true: Dawson is a fighter that knows how to win 7 out of 12 rounds. Dawson isn't a fighter that comes out there and completely dominates his opponents...definitely not anymore.

I didn't mind his talk to Fury as soon as his fighter dropped Fury early in the fight and Tyson resorted to whatever it took to win that fight. Steve, his fighter, isn't even a heavyweight, imo, so if his effort was a result of Richardson's training then Naazim knows his stuff.

I can also say that Hopkins knows his stuff, Mosley knows his stuff, Sergio Martinez knows his stuff and these are all people who have sought Richardson out for one reason or another...and Richardson also gets respect from the often disrespectful Mayweather.

As a culture, if blacks (i.e. "african" americans) think that you're phony then you'll be called on it and we haven't seen a single soul call Richardson on anything.

can do without the religious bullshit, it's imaginary
as a trainer? he's ok, but not great
Hopkins is set in his ways, he doesn't have to do much
Mosley smoking Tony was a mirage, ****m had nothing to do with it
he gets too much credit, though he does seem like a smart guy

It's an overall feeling that I have about his character and the examples that I listed just make me feel that way about him. As far as Fury, Fury just beat down the smaller man faire and square. Also Richardson wasn't happy about the smack that Dawson and Fury administered on both his fighters but he has no problems when Bhop does this to his opponents. He just seems like a natural born whiner and talker. He talked so much to big himslef up and Cunnigham talking about skills and what not. Tyson cut the corner on Steve and tore him up. Then he talks to Wilder about a loaded gun and all this nonesense, it seems like he talks too much about anything just to big hismelf up. Then John Scully said that he knew him and he had chilled with his kids. ****m says that he doesn't know the man. He seems fishy man.

Here's what he has to say about PAC, looks like he almost tear up too. I always wonder how PAC would have done with different trainers early on in his career. I would have like to see PAC with a Mexican trainer and a black trainer just to see how he would have done lol.

I grew tired of hearing his esoteric mumbo jumbo years ago. It is almost like he thinks he has everything figured out. He knows his stuff, like any quality trainer, but he seems like he believes he has this special bond and magic with his fighters that extends above and beyond and previous fighter/trainer relationship.

Maybe I am being too hard on him, he can come across as funny at times, but sometimes he just gets way too long winded for me.
