No he really wasn't there are many fighters who were far slicker moving forward, Duran was levels above him in that regard.
Gee, a black supremacist downplaying Chavez defensive abilities. Who would have thought?

They just avoid the reality, but will quickly say Bradley and Broner are slick fighters.

defense (particularly upperbody movemennt) is wat separates brawlers from pressure fighters(also a good jab).

jcc might have been the last great one

what makes me a black supremacist?

Strange how you resort to namecalling rather than address my points? Perhaps you haven't watched Chavez other than a few highlights on youtube.

I'm sure if we took the right footage, we could make Provodnikov seem as slick as Bradley with the way he performed against Alvarado.

He truly had great upper body movement that allowed him to slip and completely avoid punches. He had really great waist movement, what made him "slick" was being able to avoid so many punches while walking his opponents down. It wasn't until later on in his career that he started to get cut and busted up. That part of his game was really underrated, but in reality was one of his greatest skill since I believe it's harder to avoid punches while moving forward being the aggressor than it is doing it while moving in a defensive position.

I certainly wouldn't catergorize him as "slick".

                    But very skilled, absolutely.

Like the vast majority of Mexican greats, very highly skilled.

                    His defense wasn't great.
