Which is a shame, because Alvarado has the heart of a lion and was taking terrible punishment.

The people who call boxers quitters are always people who have never had the courage to fight in a ring.

Good stoppage, it doesn't matter if his corner stopped the fight or if he said that he didn't want to continue, he was just taking too much punishment, the fight was stopped at the right moment.

          well he did quit

you either believe in calling fighters who quit, quitters

          or you don't

you don't get to call some quitters, and others not.

He kinda did/but he kinda didn't say he couldn't continue because Tony Weeks fished it out of him. That was really weird and su****ious. When you're body and mind are spent and you're trainer is telling you that you can't continue and that he has to stop the fight and he tells the ref that you can't continue and then the ref asks you if you can continue you're going to say you can't. He would've been ahead on the cards if not for the knockdowns. He was definitely behind and the fight should've been stopped before the round even ended.

I could see by Alvarados body language before he quit that he was done, he had taken a lot of punishment and his will was beginning to break, he was peddling fast and furiously with a bull chasing him.

No shame as it was a hell of a war but Mike needs to just accept he called time and not pull a JMM and make a ton of excuses whilst feeling sorry for himself

Good fight, I'm sure Arum will want the rematch as always

I wouldn't label Alvarado as a "quitter" even though he quit on his stool. The man gave all he could give and left his heart in the ring. He did a smart thing by not continuing to fight. Alvarado was getting battered. Victor Ortiz in my eyes is a quitter. He quit the maidana and mayweather fight IMO. When the going got tough, Ortiz bailed. I had provokinov up 4-3 before the storm hit in rnd 8. I loved the Bradley fight and Alvarez fight. I've become a fan of Provo. Very exciting to watch.

It's not even so much about whether they did or didn't choose to continue but rather the way the term is used on here to insult a fighter.

Pretty much agree, they were all pressuring him to stop. Weeks seemed to be doing everything he could to keep Alvarado fighting, he even slowed the count the first time he went down.

The Maidana fight was another case where the trainer was threatening to pull him out.
