So long as HBO subscribers outnumber Showtime subscribers by 6million GBP will need HBO more than HBO needs GBP.

Although he's an excellent boxing technician, Rigo has 3 strikes against him that will prevent the him from ever being a star in the sport.

1. He's ugly. He reminds me of one of the flying monkeys from the wizard of Oz.

2. He doesn't speak a word of English (only popular Puerto Ricans and Mexicans can get away with that)

3. He doesn't have an exciting fan friendly style. He will only appeal to the diehards who enjoy tactical actionless fighting. The paying casual fan wants to be entertained.

I don't think you had to go with the comparison of him being ugly. Just by saying that he is ugly as kcuf says it all. Besides that, I totally agree with you. Even though he has the ability to KO whenever he wants, he would rather box the way natural technicians do, hit and don't get hit. For me, as a die hard fan of defensive minded athletes (including all other sports), I like his boxing style a lot. But the thing is, there are not a lot of people that like only one of the two boxers trying to KO the other. All the fans see boxing as who is the more MACHO in the ring between the two, not the more intelligent boxer, the one that wants to extend his career by limiting the number of blows he receives fight after fight. IMO, if Arum doesn't find big fights for him, at least keep him busy, because inactivity is the athlete's worst enemy.

of course people will pay to see him fight for $10 $15 at the alamodome, that fight's live gate was I think around $1 million, which wouldn't even cover his purse.

I was talking about PPV fights. I don't see people paying $65-70 to see him fight Lara.

I was just saying Cotto, Martinez, Chavez and GGG are bigger PPV fights, bigger than anything GBP has to offer at the moment.

Another problem the mention in ESPN is that Zabala spoke to Canelo in spanish but the contract was given in English, there fore he did not know all the ditails of the contract.....and one of the main problems with the contract is that Tutico inserted in the contract a clause that states that in the event that Canelo becoms a Champion the contract would self re-new for like 5 more years or so.....that to me sound screwie right there.

Why does GBP need HBO exactly? The money is the same. Showtime is going to nearly double their budget for boxing this upcoming year. GBP doesn't need HBO.

HBO needs stars, and a bunch of foreign clowns isn't going to cut it.

GGG fighting bums. Zou Shiming fighting Mexican guys from a homeless shelter. The same recycled garbage with Pacquiao, Marquez, Rios, Alvarado and Provodnislob. Arum is going to make about ten more fights recycling the hell out of these guys. Boring.

I shouldn't be too hard on HBO, they cured my illness. I used to suffer from insomnia, but I found the cure. Klitschko fights.

So you're saying you rather watch Zab Judah, Keith Thurman, Peter Quillin, Leo Santa Cruz, Adrien Broner and Paulie's recycled appearances as opposed to Brandon Rios, Mike Alvarado, Ruslan Provodnikov, Gennady Golovkin, Adonis Stevenson, and Sergey Kovalev. Again, to each his own. But I prefer the latter.
