lol I remember when arum said pac-mosley made 1.4 million views and the floyd fanboys vigorously rejected it as some big lie by arum...wonder if they still think the same now that Schaefer has somewhat confirmed it.

it very well could but I think Arum might be helping him (that's just my opinion) why else would Zabala drop the suit if Canelo signs with Top Rank
this site reported that the case was getting ready to go to trial back in February
According to sources in Mexico, the legal battle over WBC junior middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is likely heading to trial in at the Dade Country courthouse in Miami, Florida. The case is in the final stage of discovery and the next step would be the announcement of a trial date. In 2009, promoter Felix "Tutico" Zabala of All Star Boxing sued Golden Boy Promotions for allegedly interfering with his contract. Zabala claims Canelo signed a four year promotional contract with his company in 2008, and there was a clause that extended the contract in the event Canelo became a world champion. Golden Boy has disputed the validity of Zabala's promotional claim and believe their company is the only valid promoter of the Mexican superstar.

so it seems like the trial is coming up soon because they got some of the early stages done.
Golden Boy might not want it to go to trial because they look like they're in some deep 5hitComment

Finally, someone who has some sense.
These other guys know nothing about this lawsuit. Nothing at all.
On top of that, they have no clue how this system works, and how long it takes.Comment

All this is just the beginning Arum probably won't even be breathing when this ends and Canelo probably will be done as a high earner. This is all just the beginning because everything will get appealed in a court that is favorable to GBP then it will get appealed again and may go back to a lower court. These things take forever
It will likely get settled like all lawsuits and I doubt Canelo leaves GBP as part of that, Zabala will probably accept some money and some points of future earnings and that is if this first part goes well.Last edited by The Gambler1981; 10-18-2013, 12:33 AM.Comment

Anything can be shown with "figures". For me, they'd have to have been examined and checked by at least three top accounting companies, all paid for by a non-involved other party. What they used to call "arms-length". By my own knowledge, a top world-wide accounting firm used to give their favoured companies yearly balance sheets which reflected what the company wanted them to show rather than what the actual figures were.
Don't forget that these guys are fighting tooth-and-nail against an Top Rank who has always got the better of them in the past. It may well be that they are crowing a bit too loudly and too soon. Top Rank has opened up the best markets for itself, as well as signing a major number of top amateur stars, some of whom will be bound to become top pro stars.
Arum, even at 82, is still as sharp as a needle, although he has been leaving most of the day-to-day work to his stepson DuBoeuf. It is recognised in the industry that Top Rank is a major innovator, and that it's expertise and brains can't be bought for money.Comment

If GBP sues Top Rank...good luck to them..... Ho Ho Ho Santa Claus is coming.....Then GBP has grounds to sue Arum for interfering.

I always used to believe that you were a pretty good poster, but in the past year you seem to have become less so. 90-95% of court actions are settled "out of court", even after a few court appearances.... but with Schaefer and Arum.... he sounds so bitter and vicious that it could go right to a decision. My bet is, that if Golden Balls are ****** enough to sue Arum (For what...???) and go to judgement, they'll lose.Last edited by edgarg; 10-18-2013, 12:21 AM.Comment

That is funny because I never viewed you as worth anything at all, all you do is talk the same garbage like Arum is paying your bills (depicted clearly in post #65). Besides it going to the end Arum will likely be gone by that point, the actuarial tables favor it quite substantially. If GBP sues Top Rank...good luck to them..... Ho Ho Ho Santa Claus is coming.....

Arum can lose a lawsuit like anyone it is always a roll of the dice to let them go through to the end. Like the case he lost in federal court about fixing IBF rankings~Last edited by The Gambler1981; 10-18-2013, 12:31 AM.Comment

Arum is playing chess and has GB/Canelo in check.Originally posted by rey gueySchaefer might be really bad advice because accord to this article on ESPNdeportes Arum might know more about the case then Schaefer does.
it seems like the court case is going in All Star boxing's favor. the judge denied GBP counter claims and also allowed All Star boxing to file for punitive damages.
Felix Zabala has given the contract to the court with Canelo's signature, so it's a pretty open and shut case.
if the court upholds Canelo's original contract then his GBP contract becomes void because he was already signed to All Star Boxing.
the really funny thing is Zabala is willing to drop the suit if Canelo signs with Top Rank.
so Canelo might make a business decision and sign with Top Rank.
Think about it. if Canelo stays with GBP he'll have to pay Zabala millions in punitive damages. Another thing to consider is what big fights does GBP have for Canelo? Mayweather was their trump card but the PPV opportunities after that look pretty slim at 154 and even worse at 160.
so Canelo might save himself millions in punitive damages and Top Rank has more lucrative fights for him. Canelo vs Chavez is still a big fight in Mexico, Cotto always brings money to the table. Martinez is still lineal champ at 160, that'd be a big fight. you got GGG there too. all those fights are huge PPV fights. Lara, Quillin and Angulo just don't match up to that.
Canelo's team might just convince him that a move to Top Rank might just be in his financial interest.

Canelo vs Trout was not a PPV and the seats were like 10 bucks a pop.Originally posted by ShoulderRollQuote:

Again...Canelo packed the Alamodome. Against Austin Trout. Why wouldn't people pay to see him fight those guys you mentioned?
