The thing is, Pac has natural advantages over Marquez like his blazing hand and foot speed which match up well against Bradley. Nevertheless, Marquez managed to neutralize Pac's physical advantages with his superior technique and intellect.

And although Marquez lost last night, let's not forget that we're talking about a 40 year old veteran who'd shown signs of decline and had become more stationary since his move up to lightweight, but to his credit, he was able to make adjustments to remain competitive, which many fighters are unable to do. Fighters who rely heavily on their physical abilities tend to decline dramatically once they begin to slow down physically-- I don't think it's a coincidence that Pac tripped face first into Marquez's counter in his last fight after complaining of leg problems in previous fights.

At any rate, perhaps we would have seen a different outcome last night if this had been a younger and fresher version of Marquez. Nevertheless, he gave a respectable performance all things considered.
All the more you should give Pacquiao props for winning 2 of 4 fights against Marquez. Pacquiao fought Marquez at Marquez's deadliest style and form and yet won 2 of 4 (should've been 3 of 4 if it wasn't for a nincompoop judge). Even Floyd fought on the backfoot against Marquez and the few times he didn't Marquez scored big shots.

Hec I actually do follow boxing, I write and I actually box. And if a fighter is running you are supposed to cut the ring off. It just illustrates Pacquiao can't do that, his foot work is overrated to an extent. You bring up he didn't have the mindset to want to KO Mosley?
It was really enough to win 12 rounds, drop Mosley and send him running. That in itself is an accomplishment for anyone, much less a midget, no matter how washed up. Canelo fought an even older, more washed up, Pac-emasculated version, didn't drop him or send him running, and that was with Mosley being the smaller guy. Seems silly to pick nits here.

        True this..!
De la Hoya was expecting Cotto to beat Margarito, but he lost. So, Pacquiao was DeLa Hoya's plan B.

Good analysis, i've been trying to say this also, Jmm is overrated, all he has are those subtle feints, that Pacquiao was not able to read until the late rounds of the 3rd fight.

Jmm was not trying to coast the last few rounds of the 3rd fight, HE WAS FIGURED OUT! It showed on the 4th fight. It's the PEDs that saved him.

Shot Barrera beat this guy in his PRIME.

His resume reflects his skills= Overrated

Without question, Manny Pacquiao is the more versatile and flexible of the two fighters. Marquez tends to be a bit more stagnant who doesn't make adjustments on the fly given his slower feet and lower work rate.

This was the major reason why he lost to Bradley because he's a natural counter puncher and wasn't nearly as active as he should have been. He needed to fight at a faster pace, while pressing the fight more by cutting off the ring but didn't; Since Bradley isn't a huge puncher and was very reluctant in standing flat-footed to trade punches with him.

In addition, Marquez tends to have trouble against boxers, who like to fight from the outside, by working behind the jab, while using their legs and by refusing to engage by avoiding the exchanges with him.

Moreover he hardly attempted any combination punches at all in the Bradley fight. I don't think that he even landed more than two combinations, for the entire fight. He was mostly loading up on single punches at a time.

Pacman on the other hand matches up much better against Timothy Bradley because he's a natural slugger, who can make adjustments, with a higher work rate and faster feet. For example, in his bout with Bradley, he was able to close the distance a lot faster than Marquez, due to his superior foot speed and higher cardio conditioning.

Let me ask this, see what an old super washed up past prime Erik Morales did to Marcos Maidana and Danny Garcia in the first fight?

Does that mean Maidana and Garcia are garbage? a lot of people like to discredit Pacman for his wins over Morales, yet nobody goes hard at Danny Garcia or Maidana they basically fought an old man.

Why do you say that Chalino? I am unbiased man.

Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales are more versatile than Marquez. I even felt JMM barely beat Barrera if it wasn't for that lame hit Marco landed after he dropped JMM that guy him penalized.

JMM just fights better as a counter puncher...doesn't mean he's one dimensional
