I said he's very clued up about the division and he's easily named 20. I'm sure he could name more.

I'm sure with reseatch it would be pretty simple to find a long list of fighters who could be ranked ahead of a guy who's wins at 160 are exclusively against Journeyman.

ok, then, he's not the "most clued up on the division" if he ranks proksa, the largely inactive pirog [whose only big win is jacobs, a nobody,] and ndam, mora, danny jacobs [rofl..], ahead of stevens.

stevens ranking mostly came from a knockout of a guy named elvin ayala. he wasn't a great fighter at all (i saw him several times in CT,) but he was in the top 20 or better when stevens stopped him in round one. i'm not saying that's a great win, but it does put him ahead of danny jacobs, and inactive ndam, proksa who has done less and lost to mora and golovkin. pirog is a better fighter than stevens by the look of it, but he's done nothing other than beat ishida recently, and his "big win" over jacobs was three years ago.

danny jacobs is literally not even in the top 25. that's what really made me laugh. that's a joke ranking, and a sign that your guy doesn't know the division.

He's not "my guy" and he does know the division.

Why is Jacobs not even 25 and Stevens is? They've fought the same caliber of fighters recently and he definitely has the best win between them. He also hasn't been clearly beaten by Jessie Brinkly.

All these things you're saying for these other fighters, the exact same applies for Stevens.

He's never beaten a ranked fighter, ever. His wins at 160 are against Journeyman only, including Ayala who I highly doubt was amongst the Top 20 at MW at that time and was beaten by Brinkley.

All of those guys who are apparently beneath Stevens have either beaten a ranked guy or fought and looked good against a ranked guy.

Stevens has beaten nothing but Journeyman. How can someone who's beaten no one at all who's remotely good be in the Top 15? Doesn't make any sense.

Stevens is not very good it's pretty clear to see. If he hadn't have came out trashing Golovkin he'd have never got the fight and you wouldn't be seeing him in any rankings.

jacobs recent opponents and stevens recent opponents are not the same, man. i don't knwow what to tell you if you thnk that. jacobs is being brought back from near career ending surgery. he almost died. i've been to a couple of his fights. i'm a big fan of anybody who beats cancer.

you can tell me ayala wasn't "ranked" in the top 20, but he was. he is better than jacobs opponents, who literally aren't in the top 50. he wasn't anybody to write home about, but he was in the top 20. when you knock guys out in round one in succession you're more likely to get bumped up than if you fight them in close decisions.

this conversation clearly isn't getting anywhere, is it, rofl?

Not really. Ayala was in the top 20, because you say so

Both of them are fighting Journeyman at the moment. Yes, Jacobs opponent aren't in the Top 50 and I suppose Stevens are? Roman in the Top 50? Findley in the Top 50?

Look, it's really simple, a fighter who's wins at a weight are exclusively against Journeyman, whilst factoring in he's terrible, doesn't have a single decent win on his record and lost a one sided decision to Jessie Brinkely isn't in the Top 15 of any division. It's as simple as that.

Unless we now live in an age where a fighter can literally do nothing and casually walk his way into the Top 15 of a divison by doing nothing but trash talking. Throw him up there as the 3rd hardest puncher in the division aswell

          • Curtis Stevens is one small ass MW.. to think he used to fight at 168 and I think 175 too?

He's 5'7 and was in great shape too.

jacobs opponent prior to lorenzo weren't evne in the top 150, man. before that he fought guys who weren't in the top 300. they are not fighitng the same level of comp. jacobs is not ranked above stevens, and he shoudn't be.

john scully said he fought at 201, buyt i haven't verified that yet. in '02 he was the national champion at 178 lbs, which is pretty damn remarkable if you ask me. that's 10 years ago and almost 20 lbs north of where he's at now. maybe he was chubby. i have no idea.

at certain angles you can see a jr MW hiding under that muscle, but the weights at which he's fighting leads you to believe that he's way too big for that.

Jacobs beat Ishe Smith who's heaps and bounds better than anyone Stevens has beaten. Was a while ago, but still.

Stevens opponents aren't in the Top 100 either if Jacobs aren't. Fact is, both are fighting journeyman.

Maybe both are "absolutely top 15". After all that's all it takes it seems.

Beat journeyman, talk trash - Top 15.

Perhaps Jacobs is the #4 hardest puncher at 160 behind Stevens. After all both are knocking out and have a record of knocking out Journey man.

i'll absolutely agree that ishe is a better win than what stevens has. it was before pirog and cancer, though. many, many years ago. his recent opponents hav ebeen a total rebuild. 10-15 fight pros who aren't in the top 150, and then finally lorenzo, who is a 50-75 type. during that same time [2012-13'] stevens was fighting much better guys. more fights, better rank, better opponents faced, just better fighters.

i'm sure you're aware of this, but he did have cancer on his spine and had to learn how to walk again.

                      now you're just being silly,
