i'm not sure what you're getting at. you'll have to forgive me, as there are quite a few of you tonight, rofl. maybe if you quote a post it will jog my memory.

i'm not defending anybody. stevens rank came up. he's 9 in ring mag, 13 in the boxrec, and fits in generally with my idea of a 9-15 HW looking at the division.

    • GGG steamrolled Stevens. Martinez stands no chance against GGG. Now now, not ever.

edit: Whats this deal with ranking Stevens? This fight happened because there was no one available or willing to fight GGG and Stevens kept making noise so it was more or less a stay busy fight for him. If you want to judge GGG on a ranked opponent watch him sodomize Maclin again

It's one of the best divisions imo. Geale, Sturm, Barker, Quillin, Martinez, Murray, Lee, Pirog, Macklin, Golovkin, Rubio, N'Dam etc. A lot of B class fighters there, couple of As, whereas in other divisions even the top 10s have a lot C class fighters.

Stevens isn't top 10, probably barely top 15 but I don't think that's relevant personally because he has only recently moved into the division and styles can make fights.

he is absolutely top 15, man. everybody who ranks that far has him in the top 15. i don't pay attention to sanctioning body belts and their rankings. ring mag isn't what it used to be, but they don't promote stevens. boxrec isn't great, but it usually hashes out a proper top 15-20 outside of the order.

and you can look at that division and tell me it's good, and i will disagree with you. lots of old, inactive fighters, and not a ton of talent.

What division do you consider good then? Obviously there's Welter but imo it's stacked with light-welters like Maidana/Alexander/Bradley/Broner/Marquez etc that imo someone like Thurman would (and will) tear though.

I don't follow the lower divisions under 135 so much so I can't debate on those but I think 160 is a bit better than 168, it's better than 175, HW, 154 and 140 imo.

140, 147, and 154 all have better fighters. the top 5 is generally what means something anyway. sometimes only a couple fighters really separate themselves.

i think you like MW cuz of those euros, dog. those aren't great fighters.

the lower weights are tough, because the guys move around so much. 122 was really hot, now it's been vacated because rigondeaux is good and brings no money.

Not to **** on Stevens, he showed a lot of heart and put on a game effort tonight, but I'm sure there are at least 15 middleweights better than him...

                    • Men make the rankings, rankings don't make the men. Whether Stevens is 9,10,15,20 or 25 it doesn't change him as a fighter he just isn't that impressive.

He isn't a total chump or a bum or anything like that but when talking against a top end guy in a division he should not challenge them at all he just isn't on that level.

I am sorry that Golovkin didn't do what I thought he should against that sort of opponent and that I say what I think without caring much.
