And at the peak of the Broner fight it was 1.4. That is a great number with 5 mil less subscribers than HBO. And Broner vs Rees was the highest rated fight since Berto vs Ortiz. So I say again if not Broner than who should Showtime give the money to?
For one, they can make two+ of those cheap Knockout Kings cards for what they paid just in main event purses for the projected mismatch that was Broner Paulie. That KK2 was the best card of the year, with no hype. But you get positive word of mouth, unlike with underwhelming Broner Paulie.

The 5m subscriber shortfall doesn't add up to 4x the expense for 20% better result, not even close. Again, look at the results. Due to budget issues Broner's next fight is on PPV, which is 0 viewers for Showtime.

Al Haymon does nothing but get fighters higher paydays and good TV spots. Thats what a manager is supposed to do. He's never, to my knowledge, been involved in anything criminal, hasn't been accussed of lying or stealing by former employees.

Basically, the 2 people who have a problem with him are Herschman and Arum, who are working together and are linked in other ways as well.
        At the highest levels, absolutely.

Haymon secures fighters paydays that they really shouldn't get, over and over. Guys who aren't good enough or popular enough to receive those paydays, yet they get paid over and over. Considering the nature of how boxing business is done, yes that is very shady.

Throw in all the gifts his fighters get on the scorecard, and I'm sure he goes about his business in crooked ways, because he's doing it successfully in a sport where everyone successful does it crooked. Questioning whether Haymon is shady is like questioning whether Arum or Schaeffer are shady, who actually thinks that is a question?

Don't get me wrong, he's doing what his fighters need him to do. It's a very smart move to go with Haymon for any fighter. You'll get paid, you'll get exposure, you'll get matched intelligently, the only thing that will stop you from making your money is lack of charisma and/or talent. Even then he'll get you something.

idk man, maybe hes just humble and doesnt like alot of attention, which is fine. but something just seems weird about this dude.
He doesn't need to do interviews. Him doing so would just be for the fans. But what does he need fans for? There's lots of people who don't like taking pictures. And he also wants to stay out of the spotlight. Wants to be strictly behind the scenes, and not become a celebrity of sorts.

But because he wants no attention, he's weird and shady. Amazing.

You guys are showing ignorance at the highest of levels.

So it's shady if a manager is securing high pay days for his fighters? Would you rather he get them lower pay days or steal more of their money? What a joke. If you want to cast blame, then blame the network and Golden Boy for accepting the deals. After all, it's the networks money.

What could he be doing so shady? Threatening to send a terrrorist to blow the network up?

He signs with Haymon and boom right out the gate he gets his biggest payday and a shot at the undisputed champion, on the highest grossing PPV of all time.

You know what's shady is how can Manny be a PPV star for 6 years or so and still broke as a joke. So what Haymon doesn't do interviews. He does his job well but when you black and rich I guess thats not enough.
What does that have to do with anything? Shove your race card up your arse.

Am I the only one that hadn't seen a picture of him until last year? Kept hearing his name but no interviews, no camera recordings, nothing.

I think the number one reason why the keyboard cowards on this site have a problem with Al Haymon is the fact that he represents Floyd Mayweather and has helped Floyd Mayweather become the highest paid athlete in any sport in the world. If he was not affiliated with Floyd Mayweather, no one would care who he was or what he was doing.

I think the reason why Bob Arum and those talking heads at HBO have a problem with Haymon is because he does not allow promoters or the networks to take advantage of his fighters. He gets his fighters what they deserve and, in spite of what anyone says, a fighter who gets in the ring and earns a promoter and network millions of dollars deserves to get paid well. If Manny Pacquaio had Al Haymon as his advisor instead of that clown, Michael Konce, Pac would be guaranteed $20 million per fight in his contracts instead of the $5 million he is currently guaranteed with an incentive that he will make $20 milllion if the fight sells well on PPV. If Nonito Donaire had Haymon as his promoter, he would have gotten $3 million to fight Mares instead of $1 million to fight Rigondeaux and the fight would have been on HBO because HBO would not have had a choice but to deal with Haymon.

Al Haymon is hired by fighters to even the playing field for them against ruthless promoters and networks that want to control a fighter's career by dictating who they can and cannot fight and when, and that is exactly what he does. He is the closest thing to a union that boxers have. That is why Bob Arum hates him and won't allow any of his fighters to go near Haymon, that is why HBO severed ties with him, and that is why boxers want him on their team.

That is all that Arum gives Pac right now and Koncz convinces him day in and day out that it is okay because Arum is paying Koncz under the table to keep Pac in line.
