Is this Al Haymon? (at #TheOne)

Actually it was 1.3m. He got 1.4m vs Rees on HBO
Meanwhile GGG Macklin did 1.1 at 4x smaller purse. That's bad business for SHO, paying 4x as much for not even 20% more.
Now I get it's Showtime and graded on a curve, but look at the gaping hole in their schedule now in the normally busiest stretch for boxing. They'll be getting exactly 0 viewers for all those shows they can't put on because of this unplanned expenseComment

Well it is impossible to keep whites gloves clean in boxing so Haymon has obviously done stuff to get the job done, but generally speaking he is doing it for the right reasons to help his guys, most string pullers in the sport (at best) do a bit for their guys but mostly make bank off the backs of other.
I haven't quite got what Haymon's deal is with boxing other than he probably digs the sport, and enjoys playing the game. He was already rich and had a good racket going one I think would be better than boxing but maybe he enjoys dealing with boxers more than musical acts.Comment

Did GGG sell out the Barclays, MSG, or any other big venue? That fight was at some Indian Casino in Conn. Don't talk about business sense because obviously you have none. Your not taking into account the corparate sponsership thats involved with boxing. All of that generates revenue and they are all involved in finacial risks. And at the peak of the Broner fight it was 1.4. That is a great number with 5 mil less subscribers than HBO. And Broner vs Rees was the highest rated fight since Berto vs Ortiz. So I say again if not Broner than who should Showtime give the money to?Actually it was 1.3m. He got 1.4m vs Rees on HBO

i find many things shady. u cant find ONE interview hes done, audio or video. he used to sit ringside at fights but now just hangs around the locker rooms. says no to all interview requests. tells any1 who gets a picture of or with him to keep it off the internet. has 2 clown twins (watson brothers) play his role, etc.
idk man, maybe hes just humble and doesnt like alot of attention, which is fine. but something just seems weird about this dude.Comment

It's good business for him. The music business is very saturated, arguably dirtier than boxing, and has many more competitors. Boxing though is a smaller world with less competitors. Many of the managers aren't that good at business and lack experience when you research their backgrounds. And boxing is less corporate, less rules, than the music business at the major level.Well it is impossible to keep whites gloves clean in boxing so Haymon has obviously done stuff to get the job done, but generally speaking he is doing it for the right reasons to help his guys, most string pullers in the sport (at best) do a bit for their guys but mostly make bank off the backs of other.

Haymon helps fighters maximize their purses, which in turn maximizes his own profits. It's a win win situation. And he has few competitors to battle with. To make the same profit in the music business and to manage all the acts, is way more difficult. And it's a year round grind. The difference in workload is huge.Comment
