imho the problem with GOAT is the P4P thing being factored, the one that I consider the GOAT is the fighter IMHO that can/will beat anybody from flyweight to heavyweight 7 times out of 10 and that is Muhamad Ali ...

Jimmy Young... with competent judges present to score his bouts.

generally ray robinson is considered to be the greatest of all time.

he's not well filmed at WW, but there are clips of several fights at the weight.

he's extremely well filmed at MW. many of his title fights are there in full.

robinson is arguably the greatest welterweight and middleweight of all time. after a full career at WW (where he only lost once to a hall of fame middleweight to jake lamotta, and avenged the loss five times,) he went on to become a five time middleweight champion.

he had great power, speed and boxing abilities, and the greatest chin of all time. at WW he was very big.
          wins over lamotta
          gavilan
armstrong (past prime, robinson carried him)
          fullmer
          basilio
          angnott
          marty servo
          zivic
          randy turpin
          bobo olsen

he lost to joey maxim via stoppage in his only knockout loss. maxim was the LHW champion, and a hall of famer. he gave floyd patterson his first loss. he was a great fighter himself. he was ahead on the cards, and succumbed to heat exhaustion in the 13th round. the arena was in the 100's, and the ref had to be replaced midway through the fight

85-0 in the amateurs. 40 first round knockouts.

these are the reasons why he's considered the greatest of all time. his resume is long and f#Cking decorated. his talent was the best of all time to boot. he had a great chin, great power, and great speed.

That's ******ed. By that standard John Ruiz is greater than Jimmy Wilde.

Imo it has to be walker smith
,ali or joe louis. Are close 2nd ,3rd

              Resume, skills,rivalries

Any fighter with great skills and and no resume is more talented then they are accomplished as fighters.

These three have the it factor.

Joe gans and sam langford and henry armstrong all get honorable mention

                Floyd Mayweather Jr.

And I’ve seen just about every great fighter fight either LIVE or pure archived video footage.

I’ve never seen a fighter with the combination of speed, defense and brains in my life.

I was in awe with SweetPea’s defense and boxing skill. Floyd is better.

I used to think JC Chavez was the most DOMINANT fighter I’d ever seen. But then Sweetpea owned him.

Ali’s defense was not as sharp as Floyd’s. Ali got hit way more than Floyd, and not just against hall of fame competition.

Ray Leonard and Roy Jones are the two guys that I have a hard time placing Floyd above.

However, Floyd’s dominance for 17 years against good and great fighters cannot be ignored. Floyd also passed the eyeball test as the best fighter I’ve ever seen.

Why judge people's opinion if you don't have one of your own?

Tough. I can't say SRR, Gerb, Charles, Louis, Pep, etc. Haven't seen them enough and not sure how in shape their opponents were. For me, it has to be Sugar Ray Leonard. He beat Benitez, Hearns, Duran, Hagler, four of the greatest fighters ever. He won an Olympic Gold Medal, and was the first boxer to accumulate over $100 million in purse. GOAT.
