Was Matthysse vs. Garcia a let down?

Matthysse fought his heart out. My criticisms are only with his style. I don't question his heart at all. I just don't think that he can beat Danny. Danny is tall, uses the jab, throws good combos, and his defense matches up very well when matched against Matthysse's offense.

Matthysse imo just can't fight inside, and Danny can, and that was the biggest difference with me when I mentioned their styles. Matthysse stalks, but he doesn't wade in to get punches off. He darts in leaving himself open to combos. Can Matthysse change his style? No.

Matthysse is a tough out for anyone, and you'll more than likely be bruised up fighting him, but he can be outboxed.

I don't think anyone is really dis*****g that?? but of all the fights that "that" punch could have landed. WHY did it have to be this one

It was really heating up nicely.

I wasn't rooting for either fighter, but I did promise some casual fans a "great fight that won't go 12".

The swollen eye affected Mattyse's aggression. Say what you want, but I want to see a rematch (I've read Garcia's camp says no however). I understand the swollen eye was caused by a punch, but there was some luck involved in the eye swelling shut so rapidly. I had the fight even before the eye incident.

A trilogy would be nice. Garcia is likely headed to welterweight where he'll be hyped up as a potential Floyd opponent if he can get a good win under his belt. They better match him carefully though, Garcia is still full of flaws.

It was disappointing if you wanted Lucas to win but it was the most exciting fight in an otherwise boring night of boxing.

This was a great fight. I'm glad it went the distance. A KO in the first few rounds wouldn't have told us anything about either one or these fighters. Garcia is a better boxer than Matthysse and that's why he won. I'm glad the people predicting a destruction by Matthysse was proven wrong. This fight in a sense is microcosm of the divide between the two sets of fans on this site. The ones that prefer boxing and the ones that prefer brawling.

Yes, I had a hunch Garcia would win and on points. i like mattysse but he just seemed too one dimentional and if he did not bomb Garcia out would run out of ideas. garcia was just smarter and more cunning something i have noticed about him in his fights and that was his edge.I hope Garcia gets the respect he deserves now because he has earned it.
