Can't people just accept the fact that it takes two fighters, a compelling story and marketing to reach those numbers?
It isn't 2.2 for just Floyd. It isn't 2.2 for just Canelo. It's 2.2 for Floyd, Canelo, story of two undefeated champions, promise of Canelo being a true threat based on Canelo's recent wins, Canelo's young age, Floyd's older age, their records (44-0, 42-0-1), Canelo's following, Mexican independence weekend, Floyd's following, the people that want to see Floyd lose, the typical hype around a major fight, and all of the marketing and build up put into the fight.
A lot goes into making a major fight successful which is why you don't just see them thrown together. It takes negotiation and time. I am a graphic designer working for a marketing agency. Yes it takes time to simply design the marketing materials, photoshoots for posters, motion graphics for video packages, etc. There are a million moving parts.
Anyway, anything about 1.5 is very good. 2.0 is great. 2.2 (for Mayweather vs someone not DLH or Pacquiao who both have track records and proven names longer than Canelo) is astounding.
(Ishe and Molina should never be on PPV again..lol)

Canelo better be getting a huge bonus in PPV because he got jacked big time for this. $12 Million is chump change when you are part of the biggest money making fight in history. For DLH vs Floyd , Oscar got over $50 million while Floyd got over $25 million.
If Canelo wins a couple more fights and is impressive you better believe there will be a rematch a couple years down the line. I doubt Canelo will come down to 152 or take less then $20 million for that.

Anything over 500k is great.
Anything over 1 million is insane.
Over 1.5 million is incredible since it's only happened about 5 times in the last 20 years.
Over 2 million has only happend 2 times since PPV was invented so that's all you need to know about how happy they must be right now.
To put it into perspective, the UFC which is supposed to be the fastest growing sport and has killed boxing hasn't hit 1 million buys in 3 years.Last edited by mrpain81; 09-19-2013, 05:10 PM.

This is great if the projections hold up. It's funny people saying it's all because of Canelo. I doubt anyone of sane mind really believe that's the case but if you do, imagine if this fight was against Kirkland, P. Williams, or Ortiz. Tell me if the PPV buys would even be close to a million.

The point is Floyd is the A side to these monster fights , and he proves it because he can repeat it , his opponents cant repeat it without him and he does it again with another guy , that shouldn't be hard to fathom but for some reason you cant see it .
Your coming across a bit of a sour g**** buddy .
