What everyone chooses to forget is that the CSAC inspector watched Margarito's wraps applied, passed & signed off on them. If those pads were illegal why didn't he pick up on them?? Why wasn't he castigated? Then ****m Richardson demands the wrap be removed, purely to get under Margarito's skin. Then he's alleged to have said BLOCKS fell out of the wrap then he changed it to plastic inserts. Like Dougie said when the pads were tested they were deemed harmless just used pads & not new ones. A technical illegality yes but loading his gloves???? C'mon get real

I never said he didn't deserve the year ban. There's also a difference in what he did and what Luis Resto did for example and people make that comparison.
They found illegal substances in his gloves, whether a pinch or a lot, it makes no difference. He had to be punished but there is a difference in what he's been accused of.
Also, you responded to a poster that said "no matter what people say I will never change my mind on this" you agreed. Sad man, I thought you were one of the rational ones who let the facts and rational thinking make the decisions for you.

Furthermore, it's ridiculous to think that Margarito went through his entire career cheating and was never officially caught with the plaster he'd supposedly beat the **** out of everybody with.
I was in the anti-Margarito crowd once upon a time, too. But that was just an emotional reaction, the same kind of negative reaction any decent human being who loves this sport has when they hear of a potential scandal that could damage fighter's lives. Now that all of that **** has cleared, I don't see how anybody can look at the relatively insignificant amount of evidence and come to the conclusion that Margarito was trying to cheat Mosley, let alone everybody he fought in his career.
I took the time to actually read the report which can be found on line and I was shocked to find out the truth of the report. Also, ****m Richardson deserves some criticism as well. He was quoted as saying that a "brick fell out" of the wraps and that was simply not true.
Not surprised by the way he likes to embellish things and use superlatives when making a point.

Ever heard of Occam's Razor? The simplest answer with the least assumptions is usually the truth?
Cotto has never broken down the way he did in that fight. Against Pacquiao a guy who hits harder a fights a tempo as quick or even quicker than Margs he was on his feet when it was stopped.
The simplest answer is the truth and that is that Marg cheated.
We're talking about trace substances here, specifically oxygen, which is the third most abundant element in the universe, and calcium, which is the most abundant metal by mass in most animals and is also found in chalk which is routinely used by athletes to enhance grip during weight exercises including lifting weights, pulling ropes, or even swinging a sledgehammer.
If anybody is making an assumption here it's you.

Then take into account that Cotto 2 fights Prior took all of Mosley's bomb and there where plenty of them to take. And then Margarito who is a volume puncher not a power puncher starts landing punches around the 5th/6th round and withing a round or two Cotto is in bits.
Name another fight that resembled this fights end. Where the punches aren't hurting the fighter in terms of making his legs go, but just bludgeoning them.
He cheated and it obvious. Saying he used it for One fight is like saying Lance Armstrong only roided for one race....naive

I never understand people trying to paint Cotto as some beast like Margarito would need plaster to beat him. Cotto was always a fragile fighter.

I couldn't agree more and the same thing I did. I don't care if he's Mexican, I condemned him because as a former boxer, that is the unforgivable sin.

That said, it's been years now. It's time for people to stop being so ****ing emotional about it and actually examine the evidence on their own before condemning the man for something he is very likely innocent of based solely on the trash talk of some internet warriors and the quotes of an idiot like Naazim Richardson, who made a HUGE fuss about Tito's handwraps being illegal, despite the fact that the way Trinidad had his hands wrapped had been legal in every other state he'd fought in except New York.
It's just a giant cluster**** and the answer, as always, lies in the evidence.
No way in hell would Margarito be convicted in any court room in the United States based on such circumstantial garbage.

The Lance Armstrong analogy is unintentionally hilarious.
I know you probably thought that you were being intelligent there, but we actually have conclusive evidence that Armstrong ran the biggest doping ring in professional sports history for years.
With Margarito we have two traces of some of the most abundant elements on the entire planet.

Cotto was and is a better fighter than Margarito. Cotto may have not have taken damage like Margo, but he was always more skilled.

With regard to the Mosley fight it was a good win for Mosley, but I have to say Margarito was dead at the weight at that point.
I've never thought Margarito would knowingly take part in any form of cheating. Look at the way he fought and beatings that man took at times. He's a fighting man balls like king kong.
