Garcia put an end to the Matthysse hype train. I don't have a problem with Matthysse as a fighter but it was ludicrous how people wrote Garcia of completely.

TBH, Garcia looked pretty dominate. He got off when he wanted to and took Lucas's power without doing the stanky leg.

Lucas looked lost like he didn't have a plan B. Once his eye started to close he was a sitting duck in there. Danny showed he can box and **** with the best of them.

Garcia was pretty dominant in the second half, but things did get a bit iffy towards the end. That KD was clutch.

Danny fought a great fight,, weathered lucas's early storm,, starting chopping him down in the mid rounds, and beat up lucas down the stretch,, It wasnt a blowout but garcia proved now with wins over holt, morales, judah, khan, and lucas, that danny is the real deal,,,,

Hats off to danny, I thought lucas would win, and danny's only shot would be to be the matador and fight a perfect fight, and counter lucas as he came in,,, Danny handled the pressure and won fair and square,,,, He proved he was the better all around fighter

Is this thread about Lennox Lewis vs Vitali Klitschko?

or is it a simple deja-vu?.

It wasn't a schooling, or at least not the kind of schooling that Mayweather delivered to Canelo, or Rigondeaux to Donaire.
It wasn't a mismatch either, it was a competitive fight.
Matthysse though showed his old limits, he's very good power and below average boxing skills. He is good and will probably manage to win a belt, but he is not the monster he was made out to be.

Some people believed he would K.O. Danny within 3 or 4 and Mayweather in 8 max.

i thought he was boxing well with garcia before the eye became a factor. matthysse would come in, land his hooks and then simply dip under to avoid a counter. lucas did this on repeat and got the better of danny each time. listen to angel during the first half of the fight, you could clearly see frustration in that corner. danny just had a better chin than what we expected. he weathered the power and took over once lucas' injury slowed him down. even with one eye closed, lucas still made it a very close fight though. one dubious knockdown call decided the outcome of the fight.

I'm keeping my mouth mostly shut because of all the **** I talked, but this is very true. It's not an "excuse" that Lucas' eye closing changed the fight. It's a factual observation. Danny closed it and won the fight, and I'm not denying him his respect. But the first half of the fight Lucas looked really good and was winning or at least even IMO. He had two good rounds before the eye closed. Even with it the fight was close.

Garcia toughed out a good fight, he didn't dominate or school anyone. That's more than most of us though, and he deserves all the credit in the world for a hard-earned win no one expected, but people are going crazy here.
