While golovkin hasn't been at the top forever, he beat Matt macklin in his last fight. Macklin is no talent to write home about, but he was competitive with Martinez, and has been a contender at mw for a while.

Golovkin's chin looks very good so far. He hasn't been hit with a huge mw bomb, but other than he and qiillin there aren't many big punchers at mw. In an international level amateur career and several pro fights he has never been down.

I agree with you that Macklin was a legit competitor but he did not put forth the effort to try and win that fight. Maybe all the credit goes to Golovkin for discouraging him but I just didn't see enough to change my perception. Being a fan of the sport I will continue to watch Golovkin's fights like I do with most boxing events. It takes me awhile to warm up to any boxer. I'm usually the last person to jump on any bandwagon. I'm by no means an expert but as fan I know what I like and what I don't like. I usually base it off what I consider an informed decision but like I said I'm not an expert.
