Why is everyone so Adamant about not making Martinez P4P #1?

He says his dream is to become number 1 P4P.
Well I feel he is easily 2-3...now some people might might Marquez, Pacquiao and etc in that grouping.

But to me it's clear he's on his way. Dude is the LINEAL, Undisputed MW champ of the world, the most dominant MW champ since Roy Jones Jr.
Has not taking any EASY fights, "maybe not the most popular"
And he is more active than some of the YOUNGER guys...IE Gamboa, Russell and Andre Ward all while being much older.

So is response to the other thread regarding "If May losses who is P4P number 1" it's clear It's Marvilla Martinez.

If JMM beats Tim I'd go with him. I do got him in front of Ward though. Him being Martinez.

Whilst I do feel Ward has not been in the game long enough to garner p4p number 2, Martinez is about right at 5 at present.

Him wanting it, being a respectable champ, and it being a reality are different things.

His win over an over hyped Pavlik, and arguable loss to Murray back that up imo. Furthermore injury or not, he's not fighting regularly, doesn't have many wins that are too impressive. Really like the guy though, a win over GG he deserves to climb up. I don't see him winning that fight though.

Because he shouldn't be? Do you want him to get the ranking out of pity?

Okay, number one, after the Paul Williams KO, he went on a 2 year journeyman tour of overmatched opponents. Maybe guys were avoiding him or his demands were too high, but the bottom line is he couldn't get a live opponent into the ring with him. He finally gets Chavez Jr., and almost gets knocked out in the 12th round . He then returned to unknown european journeyman...he did this for 2 YEARS last time, its unknown how long it lasts this time .

During Martinez's first extended journeyman tour? When he was figting facebook friends ? Andre Ward was going through murderer's row in the super six tournament. He's gotta start getting guys into the ring with him...

This guy said most dominant MW since Jones, as if Hopkins didn't rule the division for a decade

Nice troll attempt. P-Will, Chavez, and a few euro guys doesn't compare to Hopkins. Hell it's on par with Jermain Taylors reign.

People are scared of him. The man does nothing but give it his all regardless of the circumstances and he isn't full of hot air, some people can't handle the real deal, they want a little buildup and fabrication mixed in too.

Of course, why would he want to fight himself?
