that punch landed by gonzales was the same punch landed by jmm that knocked pac down. the only difference was that gonzales used the left while jmm used the right. it was a swing that started low and looked like the body is the target then suddenly it goes up to the head.

How the fck can you be out boxed in one round. That round was close until the ko

mares had 1 good flurry right before the ko. jhonny was setting up the punch the whole round, it only took one round to fool abner.

Mares was starting to get more hype than anyone on these boards and rightfully so. Its not like he's rematching Rigo or Donaire. He should be able to beat Gonzales with ease in a rematch just like he was suppose to do the 1st time. Thats what great fighters do.

Gonzales at this stage isnt good enough for Mares to need a tuneup. Johnny is the tuneup. Go right back at him and take back your glory. If he cant do that then he's far more mentally weak than I wouldve ever imagined

I wouldnt say fool. That's a very sneaky punch. Maybe Mares could've shelled up instead of just trying to cover his body. But thats besides the point.

and you could tell in 1 round that he was all wrong for him? I even thought Mares was winning the round. Mares was just feeling himself. It wasnt as bad as Lennox vs Rahman but it was in similar vain. Mares was thinking he was a top 3 p4p fighter and had no respect for Johnny.

He got up for all his recent fights. They were challanges where he always had to prove himself. This was suppose to be the cakewalk fight and you could tell he thought he was just going to put on a showcase. He just needs to come back and treat him like he treated his other recent opponents.

You have to have heart, like Lennox did against Rahman and just know that you are the better man. Lennox came back with a serious although cautious attitude and dominated. Mares should do the same. He's just feeling sorry for himself right now

Ok say Mares did start feeling himself well Gonzalez is still a bad style match up. Gonzalez knows how to keep somebody off him that is short like Mares, Mares is small at featherweight, and Gonzalez can box very well.

If Mares does indeed lose to Gonzalez again specifically by stoppage you can rest assure he will be forming up behind Juanma Lopez and Price. This would be detrimental to his career.
