Well for starters Margarito never fought below 147 and is considered one of the biggest welterweights of Floyd's era, had excellent stamina and was an effective pressure fighter.
What did Margarito do better than Guerrero?

I guess Margarito takes a better punch than Robert but not by much. I have yet to see Robert out on his feet or even hurt to the point where he would need a standing 8 count. I really don't see Margarito doing much better than Robert vs Floyd. Especially when Floyd moves better during Margarito's prime. Which in all honesty, wasn't that impressiveComment

floyd priced himself out. anyone with a brain can see that. demanding 20 mill to fight hoya when his career high was 5 at that point? gtfo! he only got 10 when he actually fought hoya. funny how his demands changed isn't it!Comment

Margarito is bigger than the ghost. He might be a bigger puncher but he's also the naturally bigger fighter. The truth is we don't know how long Margarito was plastering his gloves. I don't believe for a second he got caught the first time he tried to use it. The fact is he hasn't won a single round in 3 fights since getting caught. A shot Mosley completely toyed with him and put him down in 9.Comment

That's one way to look at it. Maybe he didn't want to give Bob Arums future cash cow an opportunity. They were hyping up Margarito more than they were Floyd. Taking the back seat to Oscar is one thing. Taking the back seat to Cotto and Margarito is something else entirely. Bob Arum was the one that said slick black fighters will never be PPV stars. Plus Haymon was already whispering in Floyds ear by that time.Comment
These Floyd stans.
