Maybe because everyone figured they'd rob Trout, so smart money was on Trout getting robbed.

If it was a no BS fight, and Canelo wasn't the money fighter, smart money would've been on Trout. The guy that just recently beat Cotto, while the other guy was coming off fighting a JWW that was moving up, and just went life and death with Ortiz prior to that fight.

It's like this; a lot of people had be saying Canelo was a fraud because he was being brought along slowly and the WBC gave him a free title. I even remember my boys over at BoxingTruth were saying Canelo didn't have the skills to hang at an elite level.
