To compare that to Mayweather being hated for fights that didn't happen and whining about money is so offensive that I question the fandom of anyone that compares them.
What fights do you blame Floyd for that didn't happen?
-Floyd asked for Cotto at 140, but Cotto's ppl said he wasn't ready.

-Floyd called out Mosely before he fought DLH but Mosely said he had a toothache and wanted a vacation. Hell, even DLH said he sat down with Mosely to see if he wanted the fight before he took it and Mosely declined.

-You can make a case for Margarito, but Floyd was chasing a DLH fight which made him the star he is today. Not to mention that we now know that Marg had been cheating so he really didn't deserve the fight anyway.

-And we know how the Pac situation has unfolded. Mayweather agreed to everything that Pac wanted. But ppl blame Floyd because he asked that Pac along with himself participate in OSDT. Pac walked away from that fight and he should bare the blame for that. Because of Floyd forcing the issue on OSDT for his fights many other fighters have adopted this clause in thier contracts and we are baring witness to just how many fighters are cheating in the sport.

They were disliked for different reasons.
Who do you believe can actually beat Floyd in 140, 147, or 154?

find me a interview in which floyd is grilled harder then that. floyd would start crying from the introduction
Compare this to Floyd's interview on ESPN. Yeah. I know.

Floyd is exemplary in the ring. Outside, he's is amateur status in his public persona, and it sells!

Floyd hate vs. Ali hate? Apples and oranges, people, apples and oranges.

But yeah, Floyd would not have survived this interview. He would have shut down, not answered much of anything, deflected anything deemed "unacceptable to ask", and never show up again.

The Money persona is extremely scripted, in my opinion, and does not allow for Floyd to do things on the fly. The few times he's tried he's looked confused because that's not his thing. Doing the script? That's his thing!

I mean, seriously, has Floyd ever....EVER....fielded questions from audience members?

Oh, and before someone asks...I know Manny wouldn't either. Heck, most fighters nowadays wouldn't. ALi was very intelligent. He had flaws, but was very intelligent and thought out his answers, regardless of whether you agreed with him or not.

What we know now doesn't change what happened then. The case and everything was made when Floyd ducked him. Anyway, in hindsight I'm glad Margarito got ducked by Floyd. I would have hated to see Floyd Cotto'd.

They catch heat for mostly different reasons, but did get hated on for being arrogant people hated Clay because he said outlandish things just like Floyd, Ali was also arrogant but he has a whole other dynamic.

Still if you flip them around and drop Floyd in Ali's position and put Ali now I still say they both catch a lot of heat. You can't get to that level without that happening~

Ali was a ****y black ****** in the 60's, friends with Malcolm X and outspoken against white America. This comparison is ludicrous, Floyd is nowhere near the controversial figure that Ali was. They both played the villain in the media but Ali was the pioneer of that in boxing.

As far as the excuses for their opponents, that's what happens to every boxing star : Louis, Marciano, Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Jones, you name it.

Every boxer gets their share of criticism.

Mayweather fanboys are the ones who cry about it the most.
